My Garden in July

Loads of interest and colour there Hywel ,I love the Veronica such a brilliant blue x

So much colour and so many plants, how you manage to get it all done and looked after I don't know. Love these sort od blogs as it gives me ideas of what gives inpacked colour at this time of year. :-)

It's all looking very lush. I've never managed to have a completely tidy garden. Beginning to think they don't exist! When you get one area under control, you spot another area that needs attention. It keeps me busy and out of mischief though!

Looking lovely Hywel ... I love the colour of the Osteospermum that Beryl chose.

It all looks to be doing really well despite the ups and downs of the weather.

Tidiness just means you don't have enough to do! Anyway the insects needs some untidiness to live in, an immaculate sterile lawn won't contain much life, my lawn, full of now flowering white clover is alive with bees, so many that some have been stood on by mistake. Your garden looks lovely, the campanulas are beautiful, I have a soft spot for those though some people say they can be invasive, being invaded by such pretty blue flowers seems OK to me! Veronicas are always a splendid plant and that one is a lovely blue.

Lovely areas of your garden all in bloom Hywel I love your Campanula lactiflora what a wonderful show as to loving your Dahlia and American Pillar Rose its gorgeous also stunning colours on Beryls Osteospermum .

Agree, I love the Campanula lactiflora as well, and the tall Veronica. Its all so beautiful as always. Where was Bella?

I really like your veronica plant. I just got one myself and when I cut off the spent flower spikes, it grows new ones. It's a great accent plant. The huge planters add a nice touch as well.

Honeysuckle I think some creeping Campanulas can be invasive but this one is in a pot, and the tall one 'behaves' lol

The Veronica is a lovely colour of blue. I think my mystery seeds that I planted las year might be Campanula. I hope it is ......they look great.

I don't know how you do it either, Hywel & I hear you paint & make pottery too!
My garden is full of weeds but I think of them as wild plants as I think it's a losing battle to be weed free & I so agree with what Honeysuckle says too.
I've got some of that creeping campanula, it hangs right down the retaining wall & looks lovely, I just move some elsewhere if it gets too much.

I also leave many weeds. They spread faster than I can pull them up, and I think they are good for insects.
I haven't done any painting or pottery for ages. Looking after Beryl takes all my time and I am feeling exhausted. That's another reason the garden is in a mess :)

Gardening is often depicted as an hobby for retired folk as if you just have to potter & dead head a few flowers here & there but the truth of it is that its jolly hard physical work especially as when older health problems are often an issue & muscles aren't what they were; if you are also a carer then not only is time a factor but so are energy levels.
Please don't push yourself but do try & spend what little time you have for yourself doing whatever it is you enjoy the most.

Many of us are in the same boat, Hywel.

I have grown up watching my parents 'pottering about the garden' - I had no idea that they were working their toushes off to make the garden so beautiful...and I didn't appreciate it either. Now they are older they are still working hard at it...they pop on music (far to loud but they have no neighbours) and do it in short bursts and have plenty of tea and biscuits. I work full time, long hours but getting out in the fresh air is the best therapy after a ropey day. I am sorry to hear that Beryl need so much care, it must be very tiring for you. Make sure you take some time to sit on the lovely bench and drink in all the sounds and scents of your hard work. You deserve to sit a little x
