Early Summer 2017

I thought I’d have my garden tidy by this summer, but I haven’t lol … however, even though it isn’t as organised as I would like it to be, I’ve taken some photos over the past few weeks :o)
In May my Clematis Nelly Moser was recovering from a severe cut back, but she had plenty of flowers never the less :-
Clematis Multiblue :-
Self seeded Limnanthes also made a wonderful show in the front garden a few weeks ago:-
Beryl’s pinks :-
Saxifraga ‘Southside Seedling’ :-
June was welcomed in by a clump of lovely orange poppies brightening up the back garden :-
They are the same colour as the 3d orange lollipops we used to buy in the tuck shop on the way to school many years ago :o)
My Diarama is more beautiful than ever this year, with many arching branches full of lovely flowers :o)
As you walk down the garden and under an ‘arch’ (i.e. some posts I stuck in the ground) this little Lonicera sends out a beautiful perfume that fills the air …
Campanula lactiflora Pritchard’s variety :-
These two climbing (rambling ?) roses are doing well this year …
American Pillar :-
Francine Austin :-
The new flower bed down the back by the road is full of Sweet Williams, which delight passers by :o)
… but they are big and are suffocating everything else in the little patch,
so when the flowers are over, out they come !
The weather is very hot :o( I hope everyone, your families and pets included, are coping with it.
I am trying to tolerate it lol
I’ll show just one view, until I get it a bit tidier :D

Really lovely Hywel, a beautiful garden.....

Yes Hywel, you have a beautiful garden with so many thriving plants. I really like the saxifrage, the roses, the pinks and your Sweet Williams.
It is still very hot here, too hot for me and I love sunshine! I think a change is on the way with fresher, cooler weather tomorrow.

Some lovely plants Hywel. They seem to be coping with the hot weather too...far to hot to garden again today and I never thought I'd ever say that...rain supposed to be on the way after the weekend.

My Nelly Moser has done nothing this year. Have watered it regularly nevertheless? You've got a love selection of colourful plants.

It's looking really good, love the orange of those poppies. Hope you both are coping with this heat. Now there is a word I've not heard in a long time, "tuck shop". I used to have a "tuck box" to take to school. It was locked up in a room along with everyone else's by the house mistress. We were only allowed access on Saturday afternoon. :-)

Your garden looks tidy enough, but I know what you and Lisam mean about intending to get on top of it this year! The heat is so debilitating that even the thought of weeding is off-putting let alone taking on a new project. Trying to keep the plants alive is a battle in itself, I have plants in the derelict greenhouse in pots waiting to go out, but quite honestly they are happier there in the shade where they are easier to keep hydrated!
Your plants are lovely especially the Saxifraga and the Sweet Williams. Strange how plants go in and out of fashion, my late Father always grew bedding plants and Sweet Williams were always one which he sold a lot of. Probably not a Garden Centre friendly plant, it does tend to flop about a bit and they wouldn't like that!

Lovely photo's Hywel, I always think your garden is lovely and everything grows so well for you, must be that good old earth of yours and of course your magic touch, the garden has defeated me this past couple of weeks, its a mega job keeping the poor plants going at the moment because of the heat, the new Asters and Dahlia's are just not filling out as they should be, my pots and hanging baskets have all been moved into any shady spot I can find, I have a very attractive looking apple tree down the garden, lol.. Do you know I don't think I'd ever get organised in the garden, its just not in my nature, I make plans through the winter months that go awry as soon as I start, also I get ideas from others blogs and photo's which can throw me off track too easily, it doesn't matter though does it, all part of the fun...

Lovey pictures, inspiring!

Beautiful flowers Hywel, especially the pretty little Saxifrage. The Limnanthese made me smile. I've only known them as Eggs and Bacon, lol!
I'm not on top of the garden either - still loads to catch up with. My Angels Fishing Rods, sorry, Diarama, aren't showing flower at all yet so seeing your lovely ones is a bit alarming.
One little flower is missing though - hope Bella is well?
Kind regards to Beryl too.

Yes, I like that little Saxifraga too. I'm not gardening either. I am painting the house windows. I always have to be specific when I say I am painting!!!
The weather in Scotland has not been as hot as the south.....that includes you in Wales, Hywel.

You have many beautiful things in your garden. Enjoyed the tour.

A lovely selection Hywel your garden is jam packed full of treasures , your Diarama is way ahead of mine ....

Like others above have already said, your garden & plants are fabulous, Hywel!
The flowers of the 'Poached Egg' plant (Limnanthes) always stand out in the late spring, early summer. My friend Gerry has some in his garden that are also spreading to his neighbour's garden!
Your Clematis are wonderful as are your climbing roses! :-)) I can't grow plants like these on our balcony! I just have to admire others' plants! (Like yours!)
Unlike you, & a few others above, I've been able to "tidy up" our balcony & I've now put growbags of tomatoes in the corner where the big, round table has spent the last few years - accumulating more & more "rubbish" under it.

Lovely flowers. You have a really colourful garden Hywel. Good to see you back. I seem to have missed your come-back posts as I was taking a break from my desktop. (pinched nerve in neck that affected my lower shoulder and right arm: the perils of computing!)
Our clematis have done quite well this year. Unusual. We have bought, and lost, so many in the past.

Thank you both ...
I always admire your balcony, Balcony. I haven't got a balcony so we all have things that can be admired by others :)
I'm sorry to hear about your injury Eirlys. I hope it's better now.
I don't think I wrote any come-back post so you haven't missed anything.

It's all looking lovely Hywel. I too was determined to get on top of all the work I need to do in the garden this year, but haven't managed it yet. It's so hot at the moment all I'm doing is watering late at night all the plants that need to be planted. I love your Limnanthes, I've never seen that before and it's definitely one for the shopping list. I didn't realise Sweet William got so big. they are lovely, it's a shame that they are taking over.
