A glorious autumn day

We’ve had some beautiful weather here lately and last Friday was glorious, just like summer, so we went for a drive out.
We saw a little marina with yachts, which was once a harbour for exporting coal.
An icecream van is always parked at the top of it, so we had a cone each :)
An old lighthouse stands on a breakwater next to the harbour.
Built in 1830 it is still in use and is an important landmark for the yacht club and marina.
When the tide is out vast expanses of sand are uncovered.
Looking out from the beach you can see the north coast of the Gower peninsula stretching out into the Bristol Channel :-
The clear blue sky was reflected in the sea that afternoon …
Amelia Earheart was the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean.
She flew from Trepassey in Newfoundland, and landed at Burry Port on the Welsh coast, the place we went to.
I hope the nice weather lasts for a while, there’s a lot to do in the garden and I want to get on with it :)

Wales looks lovely, Hywel! What a wonderful few days we have had with hardly a cloud in the sky! The temps have been quite good as well1 I wish it could stay this way for a few more months!

Great photos Hywel - and a perfect afternoon for the trip. I've only been past on the train but you can see good bird life even from there eg little egrets and cormorants.

I enjoyed this blog very much with it's seascapes. Amelia was way before my time, but I admire her fortitude, RIP Amelia. We had a stretch of mild Autumn weather; then a cold rain blew in last night.

So please you have had nice days Hywel which was what you wanted lol a wonderful blog I ve really enjoyed . Such beautiful photos and the beach which Wales has the best of especially along the Gower coast to look at that deep blue water is just like the Mediterranean deep blue sea which I seen for the first time back in 1980s in the south of France .
Amelia Earhart an espiring lady with guts.

I'm just back from a week end in Yorkshire. We too had glorious weather but I guess it can't go on forever. I really enjoy your blogs & this one was lovely as I love the sea. I'm glad you both had a great day out.

The colours and scenery in your photos are stunning. Hard to believe it is near the end of October.
What a really lovely day out you must have had - the jobs in the garden can wait!!! We all deserve a rest now and then!
