A daily walk does you good.

Every day I try to go for a walk around this little neighbourhood where I live, instead of being stuck at home on my own all the time,
and here are some photos I took one recent sunny afternoon.
The river taken from a bridge :-
Riverside path :-
This old railway runs through the village. It takes coal trains from an open cast mine up in the hills :-
Level crossing
This bit of line is near the back of my garden and I can hear the trains tooting as they get near the level crossing :-
Old village signal box
Some views from an elevated position :-
I always feel better after having some fresh air, and it’s a change from the garden because one can see some people.
Sometimes they even give a smile :D

You have some beautiful views in your area Hywel. Thanks for sharing.

If we were millionaires, My OH would love to own a signal box like that one! Every time we see one he comes over all nostalgic (both GP's worked on the railways in the middle decades of the century).
I like the views you have nearby, Hywel. A pleasant contrast of hills and river valleys. Lucky you. I have to say, not much smiling going on round near me - nobody about....

What a lovely place you live in Hywel! Having all this on your doorstep must be uplifting and as you say, it does you good getting out and seeing people.
Take care and keep safe ! x

What a beautiful area, and it looks so peaceful too. Good thinking ... I also try to go out for a walk every day and will take my camera next time the sun shines.
Lovely photos Hywel, thank you π

We are lucky to be able to walk in areas like that as well. Offa's Dyke is about a mile away and we can walk along it on the way marked paths.
Agree though, that on these walks people are often very willing to say Hello and even pass the time of day. from a distance these trying times.

Reminds me of an old model train set I used to have. Agree, a walk does one much good, except in me on my bicycle.

Hywel, I loved walking around your locality and really enjoyed the beautiful views of the Welsh countryside.
Seeing that signal box stirred a memory of when I was aged 9 or 10 and going to tea with a friend whose Dad was the signalman in our village. We were allowed to go in and even helped him to pull one of the sturdy levers! Good grief, that would be so against 'Health and Safety' rules these days!
The signal box and the small cottage that went with it are long gone . . . :o(

What a lovely route you take for your walk and it looks so varied and interesting.
I love steam trains and my favourite spot down here is a station in South Devon which has such a lot of character and nostalgia. How nice for you to hear the sound of the engines as they go past.
Hope you continue to really enjoy your walks and to meet some friendly folk along the way.

I really enjoyed your walk, the scenery is so varied.
Being out in the fresh certainly does us good.
Keep up the good work during this difficult time.

You live in a beautiful place, Hywel. I'm sure your daily walks do you the world of good and the horse in your first photo looks as if he was waiting for you. Do you take him any tip-bits.?

I loved the walk with you ,Hywel, and as we live in a lovely area too,I can see why you enjoy it so much.I think most people you come across ,smile and say,'Good Morning',or at the relevant time of day. Quite often it's me,who says it first ,being a bit of a chatterbox.. I think Waddy might vouch for that ! lol I also love the Horse in your first Photo, and the wonderful views .:o) xx

Thank you all ...
Julia I don't give the horses anything because there's a sign on the gatepost asking you not to. People living in a nearby house feed them every day with stuff from a box and they also have a bale of hay in the field and they can munch on it whenever they feel like.
The 1st and 2nd photos are of the same field and the skewbald horse and the brown one are usually together.
I know you also live in a beautiful area Sandra, I've seen your photos :) x

Great place where you live hywell, walking is such a fantastic way to feel alive and clear your head, regardless of the weather I would be doing those walks each day, agree with bloomer I always speak to everyone, itβs just the way to be and you do feel better for it, I do find it strange though that nowadays that alot of people find it difficult to say hello, enjoy your walks hywell.

Lovely Photos, I could walk woth them. Nice village.

Thank you both :)
I notice that too Julien, some people are very sociable but others are quite surly.

I have enjoyed your walk also Hywel. We all seem to be lucky & live in beautiful country areas. I agree it is good to make the effort to get out every day. Being stuck inside
doesn't do much for one's spirit. Rainy days get me down, :-(. I didn't see Ivor the Engine going along the track, pity).

Lovely photographs Hywel, its good to get out and about, less lonely when like you one lives on their own, I guess your views change all the time depending on the weather, cloud formation and suchlike which makes for more shots of the scenes, I enjoyed taking a walk with you...
