A small roadside garden

There’s a single track road passing the bottom of my garden, and the entrance into my garage was from this road.
However since I don’t use the garage for the car I decided to have the old driveway (cracked concrete and weeds) made into a little garden, and I have shown it many times on GoY

In this blog I’ll show you what it’s like now and I’ll tell you what the next things are that I hope to do there, to improve the way it looks a little bit

First of all here are some views of it …

You can see the wall needs repainting, so that will be the first thing done after the Campanulas finish flowering.

Here’s the entrance into the property, from the road

You can see those loose bricks, well I’m going to make them into a wall and put a gate there, for privacy and to make it look nicer.

I’ve planted some Heucheras in the little garden and they are filling out nicely, and some of them are flowering, although that’s rather difficult to see in the photos.

I’ve got a Dorothy Perkins rose climbing on the trellis and a Gentle Hermione rose up a post by the road.
The Dorothy P. isn’t open yet but the Gentle H. has lovely blooms.

The only thing is that the blooms are facing away from the road so it’s difficult to see them.
They’re doing that because they want to face the light and the trees in the hedgerow across the road are dark.

Some Fuchsias are using the back post and trellises to help them get taller …
Here’s one called ’Delta’s Sarah’ starting to flower now.

And there’s a Clematis and perennial Sweet Pea which are not in flower yet.

Next is a lovely creeper which I enjoy seeing – Sanguisorba officinalis, and it has variegated leaves.
It forms a nice clump and I have a few of them in the main garden too.

The white Campanula isophylla looks pretty as it scrambles through everything near it :)

An Indigo bush has been there in a pot for several years and seems to enjoy its place …

Those are just some of the plants living in my little garden down by the back road :)

How lovely, Hywel! You definitely made this area look so attractive and it's such a wonderful use of space not being used for its original purpose! It's looking like it's thriving now.

It looks really great Hywel ! I can't believe how many plants you have in such a small space.
Good idea to put a gate in too!

I think you have explained the garden beautifully. It really is a gem. The gate will be a lovely addition to your property.

I now have a name for a Fuchsia that has lots its label, Sarah Delta. Thanks Hywel.

Thanks for all your comments

Eileen the name is Delta's Sarah - Delta is the name of the breeder and Sarah is this particular one that he grew.
There are others all beginning the same - Delta's this or that. I can't think of any individually at the moment.
