What a difference a "few days" make...

Last week I traversed Lincolnshire and the sky was a sharp blue and the sun was shining, albeit not overly warm..
Today, a few days later, a different story. Thick, grey fog and cooler, crisper temperature. It certainly felt like it had moved from a mild, vivid and colourful autumn to an almost spooky, ethereal late autumnal day. I’ve included a few pics of my garden too.
From misty mornings, warm tea and dewdrops on spiders webs to dark, enchanted evenings, log fires and cosy blankets.. Maybe I’m just trying to find the best of the bleakness that may lie ahead after the festive season 😉

FIRSTLY, LAST WEEK..

I agree. We had a gorgeous few days recently and now continuous grey and rain: typical November. This is the time of year I dislike most, so much mud,wet and mess! Still, your pics are lovely reminder of a beautiful Autumn this year. ther's been so much beauty to enjoy, Kate, and you've pictured it!

A lovely blog filled with the changing atmosphere of Autumn. I can almost feel the chill and dampness of the air in the foggy pictures. Time to wrap up warm!

Lovely photo's Kate, I'm in Stamford where the four counties meet, five minutes walk to the Rutland border, that fog was a pea souper yesterday, today its absolutely pouring with rain again but I can see the bottom of my garden... Its been a very colourful season up to now, a pleasure to see after what was an arid summer with a great many summer displays dying, many things are all mixed up now though and still growing well, still producing plenty of flowers, even next years spring ones are flowering, I think the temps dropping so suddenly will put a stop to that now...

You are so wise to take breaks in your journeys to record whats happening in the natural world. I do enjoy your lovely photos!

You're right Kate, yesterday was very misty after our lovely weather. And today is wet wet wet!
Smashing photos though..

I do love your blogs Kate and when you started writing about it, it reminded me of a song called my Favourite Things!
You could nearly sing to what you wrote!
Brilliant picture as usual!
Gloomy here too in Cleethorpes!

Many thanks, Eileen. Yes, I do like a misty morning. I like to hear the foghorns albeit not too early, seasons of mists and mellow fruitfulness..

Thanks kindly, Julia. Caught out by your artistic eye! I often drive this route, it’s lovely how the sun filters through on a bright day.

Too quickly does it change, Paul. Thanks again.
Ps. Yes, we had horrid heavy rain yesterday.

Aw thank you, Ange. Yes, we’ve been lucky not to have horrible weather arrive too early.
My birthday is the end of November, I’m quite happy if it’s a day of either late autumnal sunshine and frost..or a cosy, misty ethereal evening to go out and enjoy a restaurant supper by a warm log fire!
Saying that, this year, we’re at friends for birthday supper and drinks…OH is the 25th and I’m 27th. But, yes, I’d love a summer birthday better to be honest!
Very cold this morning, I’ve noticed it’s 6 degrees at 7am on our weather monitor….

Thank you, Chris! I’m pleased you like the pics! Yes, definitely time for woolly warmer clothes! Very cold this morning and damp too…I’m hoping no more lawn cutting now til spring.

Thanks kindly, Sue. It sounds like your wether was very similar to here and in north Lincolnshire on Monday and Tuesday.
It’s a blessing to have the rain after such a long period of drought throughout the summer months. Filling up the reservoirs nicely I hope!
But, you’re right, the temps are suddenly dropping now..our persistent flowering plants/bedding we’ve enjoyed for a little longer will be no more this week on, I’m guessing. It’s true to say that things are out of sync..we’ve had spring blooms and shoots etc…recently..I do wonder what spring will bring next?

Thank you, Sue. I see my little ‘breaks/stop offs’ as a little therapy and me time, even if it’s for a few minutes. Just to take pleasure in our lovely countryside and surroundings.

Many thanks, Janey! Yes, so very misty..although dense fog throughout the vast areas of farmland. Horrid and heavy rain yesterday…we’ve certainly had all seasons throughout November…although, hopefully no snow!!

Aw thank you, Rose! That’s a lovely message! You have me singing the song in my head now! I’ll be singing it as a I drive though the day! Lovely!
I’m happy to hear you enjoyed the blog and the pics! One of my colleagues covers your neck of the woods and beyond right down to Louth and almost to Skegness!
Hopefully today is less horrid weather wise! 😊

Many thanks, Klahanie. I enjoy your lovely pics and posts too. You have magnificent wildlife!

Lovely pics, as always. I especially like the scenes along the misty road. Plenty of rain in Surrey too, but as you say, they need the reservoirs filling up.

That’s kind, thanks Josee. Another day of heavy rainfall today.
