Some fern fronds unfurling

A few of my ferns waking up and unfurling. There are still a few looking tight and not ready to wake up yet, hopefully they are going to get going fairly soon.
I do like ferns, think I’ve too many for a small though. Mum gave me one of hers which was originally from one of her larger ones, a creeping rhizome I expect. It’s still in the pot she gave me when I visited in February.
I do like the architectural form they develop, plus, I’m keen on the woodland effect too.
I appreciate not everyone has an interest in ferns.

You've a good selection there Kate. Like you, I too love ferns and I have 3 round my little pond. They have been late unfurling this year haven't they. Must be the cold we've had. But there they are growing again..:)

My small collection of 4 small varieties, no 5, have suddenly unfurled in the last couple of days.

I love them too. One of yours looks like the stem of a double bass!

Some of my favourites too. Very good photos Kate - such a welcome sight. I do love it when everything in the garden seems suddenly to be flourishing.

I love ferns also Kate and you have some very nice ones. I have been watching mine growing and unfurling the last month, simple pleasures.

My one and only Fern, a Dryopteris, is finally looking ok after a couple of years looking poorly! Your Ferns are gorgeous ... as is Eve in the last photo!

They are so magical when they unfurl. Mine in Scotland won’t really get going until June.

Thank you, Eileen. You've the same thoughts as me when having them in the garden.

Thank you, Janey, I see ferns are a favourite of yours too! Must agree, that cold period definitely caused them to wake up later than usual!

Sue, mine are the same. All of a sudden, they are unfurling before my very eyes!

Thanks Sue, seems more people like ferns than I thought. Thanks for your lovely comment, I do like the comparison! You're right, it does look like the stem of a double bass!!!

Thank-you, Chris, I'm pleased you like the fern pics too. Nice to hear some are your favourite ones too. I'm in agreement, it's lovely to see everything's starting to open up now!

Callie, it's great to hear you and the others are fern lovers too! They look wonderful when they start to unfurl don't they! I can understand the simple pleasure of watching our plants awaken in the Spring.

Thank-you. Shirley!!! I'm pleased you like the collection. I've a few others starting to unfurl today. Good to hear your dryopteris is looking healthy and lush again.
Thanks for commenting on Eve too. She was checking out the chiminea, to see if any other cats had been popping by!

They sure are, Karen. It'll be well worth the wait though.

They are attractive plants, and interesting too. I've never had much success with them in the garden but a few small ones grow in between the bricks and stones in walls here.

Thank you, Hywel. I do love to see them grow in little nooks and crannies too!

one of my favourite group of plants. Such useful plants and so structural especially when the croziers start unfurling.
I have 2 or 3 that are still tightly furled.
