Hi Pansy, you wanted a close up of the selection in the bed in front of the g’house..
As you can see, in the actual border, itself various rockery plants, and primroses, all underplanted with bulbs which have now gone over, a couple of heucheras, not showing yet though, sadly the pansies died off during the winter, the denticulata have finished flowering now as well…
Not yet decided on the summer choice yet as no busy lizzies this year…

There is a little stone wall separating the border from the main bed, the delphiniums are hiding the planting from my view when indoors at the moment as they are huge this year but I can see my plants from the other side, this bed changes through the seasons, it contains..

I also have penstemon, japanese anenome, nicotiana, helichrysum, chrysanthemums, asters and sedum with gladioli bulbs, one lot comes into its own as the others fade, so hopefully some colour to appear through the summer and autumn… The roses do hide the g,house a bit in the summer when in bloom, underneath them I have lavender growing, it seems to have stopped the greenfly, they say roses shouldnt have anything planted around them but mine have been sharing there space for as long as i can remember with no ill effects, its a busy area Pansy, very crowded but nothing seems to suffer, lol…

I wondered why I couldn't find Buizy Lizzies. Is it because of that virus they had ?
I've always grown roses in mixed beds and borders. They don't seem to mind.
You've got a nice variety of plants in that bed Sue :o) I like the Doronicum. Every time I've tried to grow it, the slugs finish it off.

border is glorious !!!

Thanks all.
Hywel I guess it is the virus, I do have lots of snails that luckily aren`t tempted to eat to eat my Doronicum, but haven`t actually seen a slug in years, I think my frogs take care of them for me, lol, as you know I have lots of frogs around here...

Hi Sandra, thankyou, the yellow is Allysum Saxatillis, very faithful, I cut it hard back when it finishes flowering and as you can see this is the way it responds....

Sorry Lincs I dont know how I came to miss this lovely blog, thankyou so much for showing me the closeups of your garden, all your plants are beautiful so its difficult deciding which I like best, but to name a few, the Allysum lights up the border, and the lovely shy Hellebore is so pretty, your alpines are stunning just the effect I want eventually on my rockery. The Dicentra is looking lovely mine is in flower too but the leaves on mine are more yellow than yours, Can we have another blog please when all your summer plants and roses are in flower, going on my favourite now;0))
