Taking advantage of a dry day..

We`ve been having a dismal spell recently, however today although dull has been dry so after taking Brynner to the vets, I fetched the mower out, it was hard going but I now have neat lawns yet again, as far as the bottom one is concerned it won`t last as the trees have loads of leaves to scatter..

My President although small has treated me to another flower, tiny but good to see…

Lots of deadheading to be done but too late now so thats a job for tomorrow, never mind I took some pics anyway…

My Abelia for Gattina…

Two very annoyed friends, turning up an hour earlier for their dinner…

Trying to explain about turning the clocks back never works, lol…..

Still looking lovely Lincs. we rushed out yesterday at about 4.pm and mowed our grass and after that has not stopped raining again!! Still job done, I am glad to say. At least we dont live in New York at mo. :(

Your garden is still doing well Sue. You've got annuals, perennials, and shrubs still in flower, in spite of the dull weather. It all looks very restful in that first photo :o)

I hope it wasn't anything bad with Brynner going to the vet. Hope he's all right.

Cats ! lol I know what they are like ! There's one pestering me at this very moment ... for food lol. I suppose I'd better give her some !

Lovely blog Sue :o)

I saw the storm on the news at teatime, it looks scary, we moan about our weather but seeing scenes like that makes me very thankful.
Brynner has been suffering with a rash Hywel, think it started with a bite from something, poor dog was driving himself mad with scratching, costing me the earth in medication but at least its clearing up now, trouble is the tablets make him very thirsty and hungry, he`s another who is constantly wanting food..

Harry Stera, lol, the last shrub is my Abelia, I popped it in for Gattina as she was asking about it last week...

I hope the medication will work. It must be very uncomfortable for him :o(

I know it costs such a lot to take them to the vet. A few weeks ago it cost me around £100 alltogether for Blodyn. I had to take her 3 times, because she wouldn't stop coughing and sneezing.

My son says if you have several pets its cheaper to have the insurance Hywel.
Topsy has been demanding food earlier too, and my Guppies in the fishtank. They make good weather forecasters.

What are the flowers on the 10th photo down? Such a vibrant pink!

Lawns look great, Sue.
I hope Brynner is fit again now. :o) x

I pay insurance Diane but each time one makes a claim it goes up, plus I had to pay the first £60 anyway so I never bothered to claim, I stopped Brynner`s pocket money instead, lol.
Lyjemc, they are Loves Lies Bleeding, they have done really well for me....

Terra he`s getting there, still on the meds, at first I thought he`d picked up a tick or something but then I noticed the rash, I even wondered if it was the dust affecting his skin because of all the work we`d had done, he now has what looks like dandruff, not a good look on his black shiny coat but I think that will clear as his skin is healing, the meds make him very thirsty and hungry, he has even tried pinching food like Morgan does, honestly he is like a big kid at times.....

I hope Brynner continues to perk up ...

Apologies for giving wrong information about insurance.
Topsy picks up viral infections odd times, although she never goes out of my flat. Its very strange.
I just wait. She recovers without any expensive vet treatment, although it worries me. Animals must have immune systems, like people.

What a lot of lovely late colour you have......bright here this morning but bad weather coming down I understand

Hope Brynner is better soon, one of my dogs used to have problems and I had a shampoo......I used it just on the sore bits rather than allover, it did seem to help eventually. Like us they are difficult to treat

i just love those dahlias... still looks like summer in your garden. :-)

Diane you didn`t give out wrong imformation, I pay for my dogs and one of my cats, the others are too old now, its best to have them insured if one can afford to pay, its just that its a right old rigmarole at times, I was relieved last year as Brynner had to have treatment for over 3mths and I did get more than half of my money back....
Snoop I will remember that tip, thankyou...

Wow, so much still in bloom and such a lovely garden too L/lass!
Poor Brynner, glad to hear that he is healing now. I have used Denes Natural skin balm for dogs when I had a problem with one of mine. She had constant vet treatment which didn't help at all, but this skin cream cleared it up so well..I will take on Snoops tip as well \0/x

Your garden is still looking lovely and colourful Lincs, you obviously haven't had any frost yet like we have:-) Has anyone noticed, Ghostgarden/Paul has deleted his account again?

Thanks Ba, no frost yet just damp and drizzly most days so have to pop out if and when the sun shines, lol..
Paul has gone again but his mum has joined....

Lovely to see your garden still giving quite a lot of colour and interest. Next job will be collecting all those lovely leaves from the top garden ready for making leaf mulch.

This is perhaps slightly off-subject but I thought since we're talking about pet ailments and flowers it might be worth WARNING anyone who might not know that lilies (the sort you often get in posh bouquets of cut flowers!) are apparently potentially LETHAL for cats: even if cats just brush past the flowers in the vase and get dust from them, and then lick their fur, it can lead to poisoning. It's not just the pollen either, it's all parts of the plant, it seems.

My daughter-in-law's adored kitten (Flash) went the whole hog and CHEWED a bit of the flower and was lucky to survive - so far, but he had to be put on a drip overnight, and we are hoping there's no permanent damage (her vet had had another cat to put down for kidney failure because of this, the previous week).

I have to admit I have often had lilies in the house and never knew of the potential danger (only that the pollen stains clothes and carpets!) So pet-lovers, please see, for example, info at:

http://www.vethelpdirect.com/vetblog/2010/05/02/lily-poisoning-in-cats/

and pass on warning to others if you feel it's appropriate. Thanks!

Thanks Stroller, yes I do collect my bags of leaves, it saves me a fortune..

I hope the kitten will be ok Monjardinira, I do have lilies in pots but have never seen my pets going near them, thankyou for the warning, I have ruined clothes on the pollen many a time, lol....
