Spring brought us a few warm days, time to get busy.....

After all the horrible winds and mixed weather of last week, we had a change and it has been glorious, thankfully apart from having lots of branches and twiggy bits to clear away from the bottom half of the garden, we escaped any damage, was a bit worried about the g’houses but they survived.
Hubby has retired now and is well into his photography, he was looking through albums and found one that I must show you..

That was taken 38yrs ago, February I think, we had been building an aviary for my son, you can see our first pond, Gary had asked his grandad if he could have their old bath for some tadpoles, cast iron it was and part of it is still underneath our fishpond, we couldn’t get it out, it was a nightmare at first taming our garden, looked like an unkempt field didn’t it…
Took this from our bedroom window a few days ago…

I always knew I hadn’t wasted my leisure hours, looking at the garden now, it was a pleasure getting it to look how it does today…
I’ve given the lawns the first cut of the year, makes all the difference, also got rid of the old net off the pond and cleaned out the filters, now has a new net fitted and is back in situ, also looks a lot better, pleased to say I didn’t fall in this time, phew!!!

Nosey fish, they knew food was going to arrive, we have got lots of new babies in there so its fish flakes as well as Tetra Sticks for a while…

That’s better, job well done, now where is my cuppa..

Yes, it’s lovely to see the amazing transformation that you have wrought :)

it is lovely to see the full garden in one shot. the pond looks great too. I crumble fish sticks for the small fish though in my pond they feed on the algae that is always clinging to the sides. It has green with the warmth but it will clear in time.

do you have a favourite bit of the garden? I don't think I do as it changes with the plants as they do their thing.

Looks great, Lincslass. I cut my lawn too. It was more of a surface tidy than a cut but it makes a big difference. The moss is my next job!!!

Wow Sue, that's amazing ! Isn't it great when everything comes together. You must have worked so hard !
I have just finished one garden at the new place and that was so hard due to clay soil and roots from trees and hedges. But don't you feel great when its all done !
You forget all the aches and pains that it causes. Hahaa!

I can tell from the look on your face that you feel very pleased with what you have been doing. It looks SO lovely now and you have a pond to enjoy and to be very proud of too!

Thankyou all, as you can see I didn't have any g'houses in those days, it doesn't show on the photograph but on the right was all my vegetable garden, it was all clay and biddy hard to work, I was a novice in those days and used to double dig before planting anything, had years worth of homemade compost so is workable now but as you can see its only decorative, I only grow salad crops and runner beans these days...
Seaburn my favourite part is right down the bottom, I have my stumpery, the other pond, lots of ferns, hostas and shade loving plants, mostly green but so peaceful....
