Not complaining folks but just had to say my archive lists have all just appeared again, both for blogs and questions, they’ve been missing for a very long time, I haven’t changed anything at all, I’m been having a whale of a time just flitting through the years, simply because it was easy again… You just have to love Goy dont’cha…x
On the gardening side, our drought has ended my garden is lush, I once again have a lovely green lawn not a yellow prairie, the flowers have all perked up and doing me proud, shame they’re having to battle against the wind and torrential showers, when it comes down, which is nearly every day at the moment, it really hits us hard, very weird year we’re having for more than just the weather, thank goodness for our gardens, despite the dry weeks and very hot temps at times, the plants and shrubs have been very resilient, colours this year are amazing, I keep deadheading and they keep coming……
The new grass I sowed when we had to remove the plum tree is doing very well, covered to protect against the dogs, the solar lights still in situ to stop me upending myself when searching for Brynner in the dark…..
Excuse the weeds on my paving which is very crazy but I like it, lol, I have bought some strong weedkiller, don’t really like to use it but have some stinging nettles, ivy and goodness knows what else coming underneath the fence from next door so needs must, its not the neighbours fault, if you remember that house was empty nearly all of last year, the garden is as big as mine, was like a meadow, it takes time to fix that sort of thing….
I have started collecting more bits of stump as I still want to extend the stumpery when we can cut the old conifers down, that job got put on hold this year as we couldn’t get rid of the rubbish, never mind that is now next years big job….
My top g’house is still going over the fence to my neighbour as soon as my tomato’s finish, at my age I have decided I don’t need two, I’m pondering on whether to have more roses in that area or have a prairie garden, grow more grasses, what do you think ?..something to think about over the winter months..
Sorted, I’m going to drill the remaining stump and use some root rot as no way can we get that out….
I think it looks better and lots more light down here, be even better next year when we have pruned the apple tree back on the other side, I hit my head nearly every day, another job for next year, its all good fun isn’t it….
Hoping everyone is still staying healthy and safe and enjoying the time in the garden….

Lovely garden, is that a "Peace" rose I see?
I'd like a stumpery but no space at all, plus I'd never be able to lift stumps around these days
My vote for g'house replacement is prairie style, another thing I'd love to do but zero space

Your garden is looking loved and lovely. Your hibiscus is a gorgeous colour.
I am glad your plant lists are back. so far touch wood I haven't had any problems though I know CottageKaren has had so many issues.
my buddleia has decided to die back on its own account I hope it recovers for next year. I must try a late season cutting or two.

Rose last year there were hundreds of butterflies visiting, this year has been very disappointing here as well, plenty of bees though which is good and some of them have been huge ones, there is another buddhlia in the other side of the garden so I'm not depriving them completely, I've been cutting them down for years but they reward me by growing back even bigger, lol...

Thankyou Grandad, yes that is a Peace rose, in fact its two, it sprouted an offshoot a few years back that wasn't one of the suckers that sometimes showup, I let it grow and ended up with a freebie, now its as big as the mother shrub, I keep meaning to move the orange one next to it, replace with another yellow one, its on my arountuit list..
My stumpery is the remains of a massive weeping willow with a few other bits I collected, all the roots that are in the ground down there nothing else would do well.....I have two pictures in my mind when I look at the g'house, watch this space....

Hi Seaburn and thankyou, its my happy place.. I've never figured out why my lists disappeared, if you remember there was months a few years back whereby I could do hardly anything with Goy, that's when I started using the gardening pages on FB, I was lonely without my gardening friends, never found a reason for that either, it just righted itself, I never have had to close my account and open another one, Karen did leave once before then opened up a new account, I checked the other night and her Karensusan account was still open, perhaps she will come back again..

Lovely to see so many flowers in you garden, Lincs! I love all the roses you have, they look wonderful! Perhaps a few roses more wouldn't come a miss! LOL!

Terrible weather isn't it Sue, but today wasn't so bad.
Your garden looks lovely and good luck with the stumpery. I think everyone has jobs that will have to wait until next year now because of the situation. Such a nuisance but we have to cope with it.
You were brave using that saw, I have trouble even with a manual one ! :O I hope you can get rid of the root. I got rid of a stump earlier in the summer by cutting through the roots with a branch lopper lol and then yanking it out with all my might. It was a hot day and took a few hours but I got it out eventually. I should have done the same as you.

I enjoyed that shot down the length of the garden - don't recall seeing that view before! You have some lovely roses - I admired Peace too, and love that Delphinium standing sentinel there - what a gorgeous colour it is.
What to put in place of the greenhouse? My first thought was a rack of runner beans! Why not, you get the flowers and then the beans after - twice the value... And then the option to plant something else there next year -can't be bad.

looks lovely - love the pond very much as well as lush flowers , we are low on flowers now sadly

Your garden is beautiful, Sue. Your roses are simply gorgeous. The potted acer is a fine specimen too. I’m pleased your grass is growing well after removing your plum. Agree with the other, the hibiscus is a very pretty colour.
Feeling quite cold here in East Yorkshire today. Oh and it’s raining again..

Lincs, I am envious of all on this site who can grow the lovely hibiscus. I had one in an old garden, a beauty, but the one I purchased for this one is doing nothing!
Lovely garden. Thanks for showing.

Hywel I'm trying my hardest not to let the weather get me down, incidentally it's still chucking it down, I'm hoping we do still have some nice days to come, can't change it though can we....
Stera, I keep changing my mind about that space I 'm going to have, the ground has been so well manured over the years it might be too rich for the grasses, however the other side that we've just removed the Buddhlia from could well be the right place for them, we'll have to wait and see, I think I have too much time on my hands so keep pondering...
Hi Balcony, its a weird year but my flowers are doing me proud, must be all the little chats I had with them when we were stuck at home, something had to go right didn't it, lol....

Paul when we went into lockdown I sowed every packet of seeds I possessed, had to have something to keep me occupied ,most of which I had collected from other years, at one point I wasn't sure where they'd all go, this is the result, if I spotted a gap I shoved a plant in it, lol.....

Kate and Anget thankyou both for lovely comments, yep it is still raining so I'm armchair gardening, sigh....
I have found over the years that Hibiscus do well if you ignore them, both my pink and blue were bought and planted on the same day, over twenty years back, pink romped away from the start, in recent years I have had to thin it out, the blue did nothing but survive, three years back it started to flower and now is getting bigger, they do say patience is a virtue, this little hibiscus sure proved that to me, lol....I've received another one this year from a lovely member , its still in a pot but has grown twice the size already, will be interesting to see how it compares.....

I do love your garden Sue and the way you have designed it! Your roses are beautiful and you could always have a little rose garden when the greenhouse has gone. But I am biased as I just love roses and will always make room for one.
We have a huge Buddlia here and have cut it down by half but my hubby loves it. But, I did say to him that the few butterflies we saw this year were in the garden , not on the Buddlia!
Take care, keep safe !
