Spring has sprung.

First job of the day was mowing the lawns before the rains come again, I’m working in easy stages still but did enjoy myself, as long as I don’t do too much bending all will be okay,
one doesn’t have to do that much when walking around pushing a mower….
Marsh Marigold looking cheerful, you can’t see in the photo but all the Acers are sprouting their new leaves and there are frogs in the pond doing what comes naturally…….
My beautiful Photina, looking good underplanted with bulbs and Hellebores, the spreading plants just beginning to flower, they scramble everywhere as you know so I don’t edge the lawns until they finish, saves me a back breaking job of which I really don’t like doing………
The rose garden and surrounding beds looking good, still a few gaps but I am pleased with its progress……
Crab Apple planted last May is doing very well, really shot up so I guess it likes its position…..
Birdhouse and solar lights were Mother’s Day Gifts..
I am charging them up then will move them over to the juniper, my real feathered friends won’t appreciate me leaving them where their food goes …
Enjoy your gardens all…..xx

Nice to see new shots of your garden, Lincslass! 👏 It's looking lovely! The presents for Mother's Day are great as well! Do the birds light up?

Lovely blog Sue. I do like your Photinia tree … ours is just a hedge!

Sue, well done on mowing the grass before the next deluge of rainy weather arrives! The Crabapple is looking great and makes me wish that I had bought a taller one as mine seems to have stopped growing upwards ... it's 'Evereste' by name but not by nature!

Lovely pics and blogs, Sue!!! I have to agree, your photinia is a beauty!!!! Your garden shots are super! Great to see your garden in full.
We've not had the mower out yet, but I did hear some people mowing today as I went round on my visits.

Hello Stroller, as regards going slower I'm afraid its a case of needs must, my age has caught up with me this winter, arthritis really giving me gyp, it won't beat me though, just takes me longer to do things. I hope you are keeping well..x

Thanks Seaburn, it did wonders for improving my mood, been a bit down recently and being stuck indoors watching the rain was certainly not helping...

Balcony the birds do light up,they look lovely, I'll try and remember to take another photograph to show you, my family always spoil me, they know anything for my garden is always appreciated...

Hello Sheila and thankyou, I admit its a firm favourite, I bet your hedge looks just as attractive .....

Shirley the grass is romping away again, its good growing weather, obviously I won't be doing it yet as I have other jobs to do, haven't started cutting back last years perenialls in the long border yet....My tree is a Malus "Royalty"purple leaved one, its going to add a touch of colour besides green to that side of the garden.....
21 Mar, 2024
Sue, your Malus tree sounds a bit special. I edged our 'lawn' a couple of days ago and was sad to see so much moss in it again. Hardly surprising considering the amount of rain that has soaked into the grass.

I know I have said it before Sue, but I love your garden, especially the view from the gate.
I also love your bird house and table.
I haven't seen a bird table like that before which should keep any pigeons off and then the little ones can have their treats.
I had a Malus similar to yours with red leaves at Willow Cottage and it grew so tall, we could see it from our bedroom window.

Thanks Kate, cutting the lawns gives me a boost and galvanises me into action, lol.....

Thanks Ange, unlike the housework I don't consider it work I enjoy it, the dusting will be sadly neglected now for a while, I have my priorities in the right order.....LOL...

Oops!!!... Sorry Ff I nearly missed you out...
By todays standards I s'pose it is classed as a big one. Its the edges and the cutting round the pavers that are the back breaking bits, that job take me ages to do..

Welcome back M'walter, now that is a name from the past that I remembered, its good to see a member returning....Thankyou for commenting....

Hello Hywel,I hope you are keeping well..xx
Its good to get outside again, it seemed to be a long winter this year, not helped by the constant rain, saying that I might have been feeling down but the garden loved it..X
24 Mar, 2024
Hiya Rose, thankyou for your lovely comment, I think I would have given up if I didn't have my gardening to look forward to, made worse by the constant rain but things are improving now and I no longer have a paddy field instead of a lawn, mustn't grumble though plenty around here had it a lot worse than we did....Do you mean the birdhouse that I have put the new lights on,if so it was a birthday present that I bought for my sister Cathy, her youngest son gave it back to me when we lost her, she loved it and I always picture her when I'm feeding my feathered friends..
The Malus is producing flowers Rose, I noticed them the day after I took that photo, Derek was originally going to buy it for me as a birthday present last year bless him, I think he would have loved that the girls did it for him, judging by how much its grown since we planted it, like yours was its going to be a big one, I can see it from my armchair Rose....xx

I think that Derek would have been so pleased Sue, to see that Malus, which is also one of my favourite trees.
It must be nice to just sit in your arm chair looking at it.
I have always believed that Rick is looking down at me.
I am exactly the same as you, I needed my garden to help get me through the bad days, and still having them sometimes.
It will be a year next month since I lost Rick and am getting more emotional every day.
I do think about you and how you are coping.
Yes, I did mean that bird house Sue.
It is nice to have something in the garden to bring back happy memories.
We just have to hope for more dry weather now! xx

I am with you there Rose, sometimes I feel him behind me in the kitchen, thats where he spent most of his days towards the end , browsing on his laptop, makes my back prickle....
It seems an age at times since we lost them, others as though its only just happened, he would be nagging me at the moment because I'm determined to not let my aches interfere with my gardening, was always telling me to slow down, lol....
Its turned really cold now Rose so gardening is off todays todo list, it even feels cold inside the g'house, won't be opening the door today, at least its not raining though.....
25 Mar, 2024
That's strange, Rick always said the same thing to me to slow down!
I am sending you a p.m.
