Here are some of Julys flowers and colours, taking these pictures was quite a tricky early this morning because the bees outnumbered me dozens to 1 !!!
Clematis ‘Pistachio’
Hemerocallis ‘May Colven’
Hemerocallis ‘Country Club’

Your borders are looking fabulous Louise......wish I lived round the corner...I'd be round for cuttings....lol. All your hard work has paid off....you have a beautiful garden :-))

Lovely colourful borders, Gaura doing very well......
29 Jul, 2010
Always ready for more flowers Louise..:o). Lovely flowers and borders!
29 Jul, 2010
Lovely pics Louise, your lucky to have loads of bee's, we don't have many, lots of small bumble bees, not many big ones this year......
29 Jul, 2010
fab photos and garden I really liked the first one with the bees.
29 Jul, 2010
Clematis Pistachio is a stunner! I had one once in the conservatory but I lost it. Well done keeping yours out!
29 Jul, 2010
Lovely to visit your garden, Louise! I love all the flowers you have there as well. :-) The photo at the top with the bees is a great shot. The bees are very unlikely to sting you, Louise, as their life goes with the sting, remember! You would have to do something pretty foolish to make one want to attack you, all they are interested in is the pollen & the nectar they can get from the flowers.

Understand the bee problem on the echinops - they're absolutely smothered this year. Lovely colour blends going there. Is that an argyranthemum in front of the white Dahlia? - it's a lovely rich colour.
29 Jul, 2010
you have stunning plants. i can see why you and spritz get on so well :o)
29 Jul, 2010
lovely plants and pics louise, garden looks great ;o))
29 Jul, 2010
Nothing better than pictures of a beautiful summer garden Louise, especially like the clematis and the big male Bombus lapidaries.
29 Jul, 2010
Thanks everyone :-)
Wagger, i can see why you think that it's an argyranthemum but it's actually the dwarf echinacea i have here, E. 'Pink Double Delight' ...... my favourite echinacea :-)))))))))))))))
I adore echinaceas but this little one is top of my list !
Thankfully they're one plant that likes this dry garden !!!

Thats a lovely one of Clematis ‘Pistachio’. Bees are being busy, good to see them around. Your garden is looking stunning Louise.
30 Jul, 2010
It is indeed - I saw it today! It's a 'wow' garden, I can tell you. Full of colour...:-))))
30 Jul, 2010
Beautiful garden Louise, lovely photos with loads of colour. I think everyone is seeing an upsurge in bees this year, very good news.
30 Jul, 2010
I was going to ask the name of that lovely echinacea, but no need now. How come your gaura is standing poker straight? Mine (rosy Jane) is all over the place. Lovely pictures once again Louise:-)
30 Jul, 2010
Would you believe that the white Gaura grew from a cutting I took from my plant? It loves Louise's garden. :-))))) It's a shorter form than Rosy-Jane - and yes, she's all over the place in my garden, as well.
30 Jul, 2010
Their trials of Echinacea on GW last night were interesting - did you cut yours down as soon as you planted them? I bet not, lol.
31 Jul, 2010
Errrr, nope :-/
I wish i'd seen it :-(
31 Jul, 2010
I tried to watch GW, but when I turned it on..it was European Athletics! When was it on Wagger? Do let us know what they said and which did best in trials. Is it the first time you've grown rosy jane Spritz?

SO lovely to see all those blooms close up

It was delayed until 9.30pm, Ba - catch it on BBC Iplayer - you too, Louise. Basically, the more highly bred eg all the latest ones are not so good.
1 Aug, 2010
:-(((
1 Aug, 2010

Ditto:-(((

your borders are looking great L
2 Aug, 2010
Thanks Grindle, i need to make a few changes though, i've decided !!!
I need to replace the mildew prone stuff and have larger displays/clumps of the successful ones ..... nothing's ever finished ! ;-)))
2 Aug, 2010
Nor should it be.....
2 Aug, 2010
I find my aquilegia 'texas' bought at Malvern, totally mildew prone, I've never had this before with aquilegias. I'll give it one more chance next year as it was very lovely for a while:-)
2 Aug, 2010
Ba, most of the aquilegias here have mildew by the end of the summer :-(
2 Aug, 2010
So do mine - I just pull all the mildewed leaves off.
2 Aug, 2010
These are really lovely flowers and pics. I love flowers.
