Bright Colours On A Grey Day !

Here are some colours in my garden today that have brightened things up a bit !
The sky’s been dull and grey all day long, (warm though at 22 degrees), a nice cooling breeze has made it pleasant but oh so dull.
So, here are some pictures of the middle border aswell as some of the plants flowering at the moment …. oh and there’s a Millie cat in there too ;-)
Achillea ‘Rose Madder’.
This is part of the south facing ‘baked’ border, Lupin, Campanula ‘Bernice’, Centaurea and Scabiosa.
Dahlia ‘Pablo’
Monarda ‘Petite Delight’ (grows to about 12" and doesn’t seem as susceptible to mildew like the rest) grows in one of the middle borders.
Dahlia ‘Renoir’
On another side of the garden i have 3 waves of colour, this is in part of the pink wave of planting and shows another Lupin infront of an aucuba and euphobia.
Either side of my front path are the ‘middle borders’, they have mixed pernnial planting, this is one part of it.
Part of the right middle border, mixed planting again.
Millie !
She’s a very timid little cat and is always wide-eyed like this !
Now she thinks by closing her eyes i can’t see her !

Thanks girls :-)
San, this is the first time i've planted tubers and last year was the first time i'd bought pot grown dahlias from a garden centre.
I left the pot grown ones in the ground over winter and they came through just fine so i'm going to do the same with the tubers too ..... it's an experiment really, what with being new to them all !
I think you'd have to cover them with a thick mulch, what with you being further north, or they might not come through :-/

Tt, Millie's so special, she wasn't expected to live very long what with her being a very sickly little rescue cat 7 years ago ..... but, she's as healthy as she'll ever be and a happy little soul :-))

Hi Louise,
lots of colour, I hope the rain tonight wont affect the borders too much. The gardens certainly need it.
I love the dahlias - mine didnt come at all this year even though I planted them in pots in the greenhouse. I think they must have been too damp.
As for Millie well she could be Phoebe's sister! Sorry she is so timid

Some lovely colours louise, I think I might have pablo, I bought a plant a couple of weeks ago from Home Bargains (cheap shop) it's got loads of flowers on and only £2.99, so couldn't leave it in the shop. I've got quite a few dahlias this year thanks to GOY, only bothered with the Bishop of Llandaff before 'cos you can leave him in the ground. He vanished after about 3 years:-( Never seem the little monarda before, always something new on your pics:-)
