This morning I went to the village for my paper and there were trays of plants outside the P.O. I thought they were for sale, however, I was delighted to be asked to select a plant as they were giving them away to attract butterflies to the villlage

There were Verbena, Pansies, Dianthus, Buddlia etc.

I chose this beautiful dianthus they all looked just as healthy what a lovely idea.

Well done my village! come on the butterflies :o)

Fantastic idea. Our City Council has Tree Giveaways to encourage people to plant lots more trees in their suburban blocks ... but they certainly don't give away beautiful flowering plants like this!

What a lovely thing to do. I hope all the villagers stay faithfull to the PO and it doesn't have to close as so many have. Its use it or lose it I think sometimes.

What a lovely idea, brings a community together. Yes 6d, garden centres could donate them to surrounding villages to do the same thing....perhaps we should suggest it to them?!

We still have our PO, a lot use it including me twice a week....so important to keep them going for those who are unable to get elsewhere.
