Amy clever you, that is quite a feat to get mistletoe to take......

You Clever Girl Amy no excuse now for not having a Christmas kiss lol

Angela / Homebird it was more luck than knowledge I picked the fallen berries up in a churchyard wrapped them up in tissues then at home I carefully removed the seed and made a tiny slit to stuck them on the trees , I have read since that's it's not a good idea to make a slit because you are allowing germs to enter , to late it's done now ! Carole that was the general idea ,it looks as if I'm in for a long wait for the berries :o))

I do hope you have berries Amy, though I do like the leaf.

How amazing, well done Amy!
In Cheltenham there are 1,000's of mistletoe in the trees, quite amazing.
18 Nov, 2011
Thanks TT / Lulu you live in the right area for Mistletoe ,we were in Herefordshire the other week I couldn't stop looking at all the Mistletoe on the trees they were loaded ....... it makes my little lot look paltry !

I am going to be looking into finding some seeds now!!
19 Nov, 2011
Don't look yet Lulu , at least yes look out for some with the view of picking up berries when they drop and are ripe which will be about Feb/ March , when you have collected some split the berry take out the bright green seed and then put it on your trees ~~ never use berries sold in bunches at xmas time , you might be lucky in your area but elsewhere it often comes from abroad the seed won't be ripe .. good luck :o)

will do that Amy!

Hi Amy, keep forgetting to tell you .... my darn mistletoe has been bitten off, grrrr. I know you said the bull finches are partial to them.
I'm so annoyed as I removed the netting as it was doing well and had good leaf growth. The field fares were around eating up the apples before Christmas so probably they took a fancy.
I remember you saying one of yours was nipped off but came back - there is a small, woody stump left so hopefully it will sprout again.

I hope it sprouts for you Dawn ,it might if the root is still good , what a shame it takes them so long to get established ,fingers crossed for it ........

I hope so too Amy
