Yes a lovely picture and good composition :)

for the last few weeks I have been trying to get this photo of a lone tree before it starts to 'bud up' but its impossible to park safely to get the shot. Today however being a cold Sunday the roads were quiet so I rushed a quick op to 'park n snap'. Magic to see the framework of these mature trees. Good shot Sticki, adding my lone tree shortly, actually its right next to a house so not so lone ;-)

thank you everyone.

i cant resist trees in this situation ~ i just love them and have to take the shot. a bonus if there is an interesting sky behind. stormy sky might look better.

i will look forward to seeing your not-so-lone tree bampy.

Lone
Grounded
Stands in time
Beauty in strength
Sure

24 Jan, 2012

There should be 11 words in total

24 Jan, 2012

:((

24 Jan, 2012

Does my insomnia no good either...Sheila will be doing Haiku's before she knows what has happened Sticki.

24 Jan, 2012

i have no doubt whatsoever that sheila will be very good at haiku and cinquaine.

i really like them.

24 Jan, 2012

Actually from Sheila's previous posts, I know she likes poetry Sticki...

24 Jan, 2012

sheila is quite a wordsmith! is that the right word?

24 Jan, 2012

24 Jan, 2012

Great shot.......

24 Jan, 2012

Thank you DD

24 Jan, 2012

Just looked up Cinquaine......I really fancy having a go at this, my type of thing. love poetry, so many different ones I feel it could be addictive though.

24 Jan, 2012

Oooh, I heard that Sticki and Pimpernel . . . lucky you were being complimentary! Yes, I do love words, and SOME poetry. I'm confused by Haiku though. In a lovely book "A Haiku Garden" it says that Haiku have three lines of five, seven and five syllables; but then goes on to quote Basho (who is thought of as the greatest Haiku exponent) with

The moon speeds on -
the treetops
still holding rain

Maybe something is lost in translation from the Japanese?!

25 Jan, 2012

i think pimpernel said some of the haiku are different in english ~ different rules!!

have a go DD

it would only ever be complimentary sheila, you are a clever lady.

25 Jan, 2012

The problem with translating Japanese to English is that the Japanese language has less sylables than the English language..So the interpreter has to be very skilled or the Haiku is lost..

That is why the Americans would like English language Haiku's to have less sylables.

25 Jan, 2012

sheila is highly skilled ~ she will manage it.

25 Jan, 2012

I'm blushing now - that's pressure! If inspiration should strike, I'll let you know . . . but I think Pimpernel knows much more about it than I do. :))

25 Jan, 2012

Photo being posted that Sticki inspired

25 Jan, 2012

have a go sheila then i will have a go too, going out this evening so will think later!!!

thanks pimpenel

25 Jan, 2012

OK, my midnight effort. Am I allowed a title? If so, "Under the Cherry Tree" (but I don't think Haiku have titles).

Bittersweet blossom blew down
Like white confetti -
She returned his ring, and wept

26 Jan, 2012

thats great sheila, a whole story in a haiku!!!

26 Jan, 2012

:)) Your turn now!

26 Jan, 2012

Ha..I was just going to say exactly the same thing Sticki..Word for word..

You shameless romantic Sheila ;0))

26 Jan, 2012

now that was my next comment pimpernel ~ does that tell us your secret sheila? romantic at heart?

whatever i put now you might dissect it and psychoanalyse it!

26 Jan, 2012

so what are the rules? is it done on word count or syllables?

26 Jan, 2012

Syllables this time: 7, 5, 7 - go for it!

Lol, Pimpernel: bet you're a romantic too?!

26 Jan, 2012

i agree sheila i think he is!!

26 Jan, 2012

Drifting, dream-like silvered clouds
Painted blue silk sky
Roots give life, roots hold secure

26 Jan, 2012

Romantic...Mee! Pah. Sitll on your pic..

This is where I stand

Day on day, day in, day out

Oh to be a cloud

26 Jan, 2012

Like that one pimpernel

26 Jan, 2012

I missed an O in "too be a cloud"

Sheila is a natural in poetry corner..

26 Jan, 2012

Yes that's true.

26 Jan, 2012
