A little bit special

A little bit special

My first ever pleione to come out and I have placed it in my tiny 'zen' garden so that you can see it. I have loved watching this fascinating and beautiful flower coming out.
Many many thanks to Bampy for sending me the bulbs.

It is so pretty Sticki , I will have to put one on my ever growing wish list ... has it been outside all winter ?

i love it gee!

no amy i have it on my windowsill right in front of the computer, which is in the kitchen so i look at it a lot. im not sure how it will get on in the warmer months??? the pleione has been upstairs in a cool but light window ~ no direct sun ~ it has only come in here so i can enjoy the flower!!!

when i first put the photo of this little garden on here someone said Zen and I think it is, i just love it, somehow it is calming!

That is uber cool Sticki!

Are you hooked on Pleiones now?

7 Mar, 2012

i carry it round to a different room if thats where i am ~ is that what you call hooked???? im so scared i will lose it!!!

im having trouble getting a good photo of it close up tho ~ what am i doing wrong? i would like all those jagged little teeth at the front crisp and in focus but i cant seem to get it.

Can you put some of your dud tries up, it would be easier to diagnose. Try a shot that's as wide as the leaves of the plant directly behind, then cropping to just the flower.

got to look at them on the computer, been taking a few more!!

7 Mar, 2012

What a beautiful thing! And what a delight to have success with your first one.

I just magnified your photo Sticki..It should make a detailed picture of the flower if you do a rectangular crop. Take it to the two leaves either side of the flower.

thanks Oji ~ i havent had it long so the success is down to the great gardener who gave it to me!

i have done some close ups pimpernel, i will have a look soon. just dont seem as easy as you would think?

7 Mar, 2012

Yes , do carry on trying for a good Close up as well.

Thank you everyone, such lovely comments, and likes, thank you!
Bampy has very kindly given me lots of instructions as well as the bulbs, Bjs, I owe him a very big thank you.
I have to follow the instructions now is the tricky bit meanie, from now on the roots grow and hopefully a new bulb will grow, I don't think it goes outside? I will have to check.

Mine were outdoors all summer. Three pseudobulbs became eleven full size pseudobulbs (the original three died off after flowering which is normal), plus many smaller babies!

7 Mar, 2012

That is excellent! I shall have to read my instructions carefully! I hadn't read much past the flowering!
