Aw thanks everyone for such positive comments!.....:))).
Amy, those gold crest conifers looked really scruffy, so a short back and sides was in order....:))
Thanks Carole, I couldn't choose between the green or red when I bought the birdbath, but thought this would work well with the old brick wall...thanks for the hug too....passed on by Amy...:))
Flori, the tree is only small, you don't need much room, and early Spring is covered in White snowflake blossoms, a real winner for any garden.....
Thanks Dd, Dwyllis and Junna, pleased you like it.
Thanks Blue, just imagine your conifers clipped, now that would keep you out of mischief....lol!
You know Karen, it's not looking too bad right now, I thought end of summer and that would be it, but you forget plants that are quiet during summer, really come into their own in the Autumn, and it's a great surprise...:))

So lovely, and such wonderful texture. I recognized this from your earlier pic of it fleeced in white. What a stunning specimen. You've got me dreaming of a new cherry for next spring. :-)

What a beautiful corner of your garden. Love all the colours.

I love this pic Janey, the colours are lovely ...I still want this little tree too:-)

Thank you GT Bernieh and Ba, I would highly recommend it, not too sure about Alaska though GT......think it may have to winter in your attic lol!
28 Oct, 2012
Prunus tomentosa is the one I'll be getting, should survive out there fine. I would provide a great space for any little prunus..... :-)

Great to know my little tree gave you inspiration GT, going to check out your one now.....I bet a 'bird cherry' would do fine at yours too, but then it is a wild one!.....:))
The Tormentosa has a beautiful upright shape GT, and covered with blossom will be fabulous! Good food for wild life and insects....just perfect, am looking forward to seeing it....:)).

beautiful site.

Tormentosa is a treasure here. The bird cherry is on the 'should we ban it' list, it is running rampant across the coastal areas after being introduced. Our classic chokecherry, Prunus virginiana can be trusted without the seedlings. I can't wait too. This new garden is almost 10 degrees warmer on average than the last.

Janet, I agree re the birdbath. It does tone in very well with both he brick wall & the weeping prunus. Sometimes I like garden accessories to tone with surroundings, & other times I like them to contrast. Your chosen colour scheme works very well together.

Thank you Bic...:))
Some plants are very invasive aren't they GT, I remember your pic of the Persian Lilac or China berry, really it's best to use native types. Your new garden sounds great for you and so much warmer will mean more variety of plants. I can just imagine you cabined up with your next years planner....:))
Yes you're right there Dwyllis, most of my pots are terracotta so they match too..:)
