Yorkshire Day..1st August..and a tribute to a special friend..

This is the same photo,as last years,and is also in memory of another Yorkshire lady,our late friend Val,who should have been celebrating this day with us..I had saved some photo's of White Roses from Val and Ralph's garden,but I forgot to ask permission to post one for today..I know she would have posted a photo or blog today too..

What a beautiful tribute for Val. And a beautiful Rose too. I have never celebrated Yorkshire day, but perhaps I should, as I was born there. :)) thanks for putting this on for Val and Ralph. X

It just seemed the right day for Val,Karen.seeing as it was her username,and she crossed the North/South divide,to become one of us..I hope she is looking at us from somewhere,and thinking."I should think so,too " ! Lol .

I'm glad you agree too,Holly..she loved God's own County,as it is known here..I miss her wicked sense of fun :o)

Yes she was,Paul..There aren't many people in life you really bond with,but Val was one of them :o)

That's a lovely gesture Bloomer ... I often think of Val when I go along the seafront ... she loved a beach photo! :o)

That is kind of you Paul..Val was a special friend to many on GoY,not just me..we all miss her banter,and friendship..we just happened to live quite near to each other..:o)

That was jolly good of you Sandra, to remember our good friend Val. I did not know there was a Yorkshire Day till Ralph e-mailed me. I know Val would have enjoyed Yorkshire's Day, well then again Val loved every day. I also wish all ye Yorkshire ladies & gentlemen had a good day.

On behalf of Val (Yorkshire) - a HUGE thank you! I just logged on and thought 'thats a beautiful rose, mum would have liked that!' Thank you all for remembering her, Ralph says her 'Valerie rose' has never flowered as much as its done this year and my fig tree that she grew for me has the most figs ever on it!

I'm so glad you and Ralph have both seen it,Pita..and I did wonder if I was doing right by posting it,as I knew it would be an emotional subject for you both..but I couldn't let the day pass without remembering Val,on Yorkshire day...You can see how many hearts were touched,by everyones lovely comments..and how she is still thought of with love.:o)
So glad the 'Valerie Rose' is doing so well,and the fig tree too..

Just seen this photo/blog, Sandra. Unfortunately I wasn't as lucky as you I never got to meet Val, but we did exchange PM's and of course chatted on GoY. She seemed a lovely lady and I also miss her wit and humour. You've posted a wonderful memorial to her xx
