That is special Amy. Ps did you know the pic is on its side when viewed on my Ipad. I had this problem for a year, because I didn't know, no one had told me! It is easily to solved once you know about it.

Fascinating.
Your picture looks fine on my laptop, Amy.

Right way up for me too but I'm on a laptop too. That's very unusual, Amy, such a lovely dark colour.

Don't you just love nature's miracles? a few little shrivelled red nuggets and a few years good care...and this is it! beautiful. congrats Amy. Picture is A-OK on my comp.

Fascinating to see.

Thanks everyone I'm glad its the right way up for you , Lori I'm thrilled to bits to be able to show you this after waiting 3 long years and as you say a few shrivelled nuggets of seed it truly is a miracle of nature I'm over the moon with it plus I have another couple almost in flower ,thank you so very much for your kindness :o))

Right way up on my Samsung tablet Amy... I find if u take pics on phone u have to turn the phone sideways for pics to go on here ok... what a lovely and unusual flower Amy... no wonder you are excited to see it...

I'm glad its the right way up for you Holly and for the tip on taking mobile photos its not something I do often but good to know :o))
19 May, 2015
Mine are flowering too Amy, love them, thank you.
19 May, 2015
That is brilliant Amy! Is it planted outdoors?
20 May, 2015
I'm glad to hear that Dawn :o) yes Keith they are planted outside in a shady area I must check with Lori when and how to collect the seed !
20 May, 2015
Very interesting plant, Amy! I see it right way up on my desktop computer. :-)) Most - if not all my photos are taken using my mobile phone's camera. I take most pictures with the phone on its side but a few with it held upright. These I always have to turn "right way up". But I usually use it this way to get in something high or long as these tend to be deformed if taken horizontally.

When the spathe shrivels and the cowl dries up you will find that the spathe has become a seed pod... it will be a series of bright red fleshy seeds arranged in a spiral. very eye catching...(similar to arums) birds and rodents seem to like the seed so I would suggest keeping an eye on it for a couple of weeks while the seeds ripen~ then removing the whole seed stalk and dry the seed. I think you soaked the seed before sewing it, am I right? I have the luxury of just leaving the seed to nature to scatter. have found many growing among the tall ferns. will post a pic... it's a delight to see them together growing happily.
21 May, 2015
I'm glad you like it Balcony and its the right way up ! Thanks Lori that explains it very well I'm going to copy and keep the instructions for my book ( I can't remember everything ) yes I did soak the seeds for 24 hours before planting them ... Thank you :o))

Well done Amy, a worthwhile plant to have in the garden....I thought it was my Voodoo Lily at first......
22 May, 2015
Thanks Angela It does look rather deadly doesn't it Lol ...

So thats the "Jack in the pulpit", I had seen you mention it Lori. Just googled them and found that no two are alike, enormous variation there. It is such a beautiful plant with the deep purple and almost black shiny cowl. It took 3 yrs to come into flower! that was a long wait Amy.
Btw it is the right way up on my kindle fire too.
22 May, 2015
Thanks Resi they was worth the wait I had almost given up on them I had foliage last year but no blooms , I'm glad its the right way up for you :o)
23 May, 2015
Amy, I have 4 now, looks like all of them have grown. Tall this year too :-) Quite spectacular, must post a picture when I get chance.

Spectacular!

I'm pleased for you Dawn I've spotted another 3 through this week ,Thanks Penny they are something different !
24 May, 2015
Brain alert! some memory restored...lol...Since the plants are used to the cold weather/long winter I wonder if I mentioned vernalising the seed. They might need a couple of weeks in the refrigerator before soaking and planting. Can't remember what I told you. might be on here somewhere but I can 't find it. sorry.
24 May, 2015
thats a good point Lori I remember now you did advise me to keep them in the fridge in fact I believe I left them in longer than that to coincide with our spring ,Thanks for the reminder ;o)
24 May, 2015
Well done Amy .
Very rewarding !
I have been trying to load my mobile 'phone pictures on to the computer ; any hints on how please ?
24 May, 2015
I'd love to Julia but have to admit I've never tried to put a mobile phone photo onto the computer ,I have photos I've taken on my phone and that where they stay I only use my camera to put photos on the computer ,perhaps someone can help both of us ... I hardly use my mobile phone except for sending & receiving messages ... Sorry ....Help someone !
24 May, 2015
LOL... this is the point at which I call my sons... "Hi Hon...Mom needs some help with computer files." I think they somehow acquired the knowledge in vitro... by some mystical connection...because it didn't come from me! Sorry must consult on this. You'll probably have ten solutions in no time on here.

Amazing isn't it reminds me of something I read when an adult rang for help on the telephone and the person on the other end said " Will you pass me over to your mummy please " ,she said " I am the mummy " Lol .... I could ask my grandchildren but don't like them to think I'm an idiot :o(

As I only use my mobile phone for photos - I haven't used my digital camera in years - all the photos I upload obviously can only have come from my phone camera! What I do is to plug my phone into the USB port on the computer (XP) & wait for a pop up box with a number of options. I mostly choose the option: "Open a folder to view files". I double click on that folder then I then look for a folder in the list that comes up called "DCIM" (don't know what they stand for!) I double click on that folder & get another set of 3 options corresponding to 3 folders inside that one. I double click on 100Android & my photos appear as thumbnails. I then select them all & copy/move them to my hard disk, to a folder on my desktop actually that I created & named "Mobile Pics". I the open them one by one & name them & move them to their corresponding folders in My Pictures. When it comes to uploading photos on GoY I click on upload photo, go to the folder on my hard drive where I know they are stored & click on the photo to upload - hey presto, it then appears in GoY!
Hope this will be of help to some of you who struggle to get photos on here. :-))

Thank you Balcony I'm sure a lot of people will find it useful I'm going to copy and keep your info .it actually sounds very similar to putting the photos on with a camera , Its just that I've hardly ever used my mobile as a camera . maybe I will now :o)) x
26 May, 2015
You are welcome & yes, the process is the same.
A phone camera is very useful as you carry your phone with you all the time whereas you have to remember to pick up your camera when you go out - or do you keep it permanently in your handbag? :-)) LOL!
I also find that the quality of the photos taken by my mobile phone are superior to that of my digital camera!
26 May, 2015
Thanks , Balcony , must confess to getting a bit lost there ; I don't think my phone has a means of connecting it with a USB cable .
I've just checked , it does , but I have no idea where the cable is , so I 'll have to launch a search when I get a moment or two !
I will save the precious info anyway , thanks again .

Well, Driad, you could try & connect it wirelessly if you have a version of Windows more recent than XP.
I was given a small notebook compute,r with Windows 8.1, by my brother a couple of months ago & I find that I can easily connect wirelessly to it. :-))
