Hi Guys,
after reading karensusans blog today and seeing a garden of perfection with not a blade of grass out of place and where the pots stand to attention when the lady of the house passes by lol, all a complement to karen i may add, i decided to a blog on the good and bad bits of my garden at present.
At the moment i find it hard to get things done as i work 3 days have art 2 days then there is the house and the shopping, you all know what im saying as many are the same.
but not feeling in tip top shape at the moment so its slow and steady and if i can be bothered hahaha.
at least i can still laugh at myself so cant be to bad can it.
Anyway iv been out today but a bit cloudy after all the sunshine which is just tipical as iv finished work for easter.
so did a bit of weeding and placed some netting over my pond which i really didnt want to, but two of my fish have been taken, probably the heron or magpies.
so i went to get 3 new fishies to keep my last one company which incidently i havent seen today so maybe he has gone to poor thing.
so the net had to be, i hate it though because it takes the natural look away.
so here`s a few pictures of good bits and bad bits.
WARNING! these pics may shock and upset members, so please view with care!
each set of pics will be one good and one bad

The mess behind the shed and the weedy bit next to shed is what Baz promised to tidy and finish flagging over a year ago grrr and im still waiting as i want to put a water butt behind the shed and a nice pot at the end of the path

hopfully after the shocking pictures and no-one has left the room you have enjoyed my tour of good and bad, i have finished with pleasant pics so you will soon forget :o))

so guys thats it apart from one thing i asked Baz to move over two weeks ago after doing a painting job and he hasnt so im going to go now and do it myself, move this eye sore under the bench im waiting to be fixed and painted lol, ever thought it would be nice to be single again :o)) happy easter x

Right San, I know just how you're feeling as I'm a bit like that myself! You have some gorgeous flowers to admire, and for us too. I know it's frustrating having the messy bit by the shed, turn a blind eye to it and admire the green grass, the pond you've lovingly created and the colours in the garden. I'm trying to maintain two gardens, both ours and Mums, not easy in the heat of the past few days and, like you, there's still the everyday chores to do. Get yourselves a takeaway meal, and relax. Thinking of you, hope you're feeling better before too long. Enjoy the rest of the Easter break. x : o )))

good advice Shirley-- I read somewhere --and believe-- that we can be too tidy, pretty gardens are lovely but take an awful lot of work And we are supposed to leave messy area for the wildlife.............

23 Apr, 2011

23 Apr, 2011

23 Apr, 2011

Hi Shirley-- I know you're not a 'seagull' fan but the've done so well!-- one up here 'flying' down for the last match at Withdean.....'we are the champions' ( or so i'm told :o))
big spots of rain outside and the temps well over 25deg. -- could get noisy--

23 Apr, 2011

Will do see you in abit, let you know what i had :)) xx

23 Apr, 2011

San....your garden is pretty and your pond still looks lovely despite having to use the netting. Don't be too hard on yourself (or Baz...lol). It sounds like you both have very busy lives at the moment. It's good that most of the "clutter" is not too visible and I'm sure after a nice holiday it will all seem much easier to cope with.

Hope too that you are soon feeling better...we had a fierce thunder, lightening and heavy rain storm here last night and it's really cleared the air. But now this afternoon it is feeling very muggy. I'm not getting up to much either...my get up and go....has got up and gone. Just hope it soon reappears...it's not like I have nothing I should be doing!

I'm thinking takeaway for dinner too! It's as catching as gardening...enjoy your Easter weekend, San and sit down outside in your beautiful garden, soak in all the sun's rays and R-E-L-A-X. xx

23 Apr, 2011

Pam, they've just bean beaten 2-1 by Southampton, so OH will NOT be a happy man. : o (( .... I've started something with the takeaway idea ... such a shame I'm cooking as the meat is out of the freezer now. : o (((

23 Apr, 2011

That was very brave of you Sandra, your garden still looks beautiful regardless of the bits that need doing, I have those too, but have not been as brave as you to put them on here...With your cheerful spirit, I am sure you will be up and about very soon. Happy Easter to you too..:))

There is a small area between the summerhouse and the shed need attention, I have not touched there for a few yrs, just aswell it is not noticeable, I will one day, don't know when :(

23 Apr, 2011

Your garden is gorgeous...I'm very good at blocking out bits that look a bit untidy, so....don't know what you mean..it all looks fabulous ! Hope you feel better soon ,take care :)

23 Apr, 2011

The "Bad bits" don't seem so bad, Sandra! The "Good bits" however are very nice. You have a lovely garden! :-))

The netting over the pond isn't too bad, it doesn't seem distracting! Hope you have better luck with the new fish! Has the other one turned up yet?

23 Apr, 2011

San. your garden is lovely, look at your photos of those beautiful plants, we all have 'bad' bits in our garden but dont show them. LOL. I was hating my garden just a while ago, which often happens to me! but now I have someone to do the heavy digging and I get to do the pretty bits, its not so bad. Cheer up and enjoy this gorgeous weather and just do a little at a time, I must tell you we had a bench just like yours and it had become wobbly & unsafe, so we put it out in the front garden as night fell and around 11.30pm a guy in a white van took it!!! Think he needed the iron to recycle!!! Lol. So we all help each other, whats one mans rubbish is anothers gold! Enjoy your weekend break. Happy Easter.

23 Apr, 2011

Sandra, if we were single again, we'd have to do it all ourselves anyway!LOL!

Michaella makes a good point, about you showing us what you consider the not so good bits! Good for you! Your braver than me!

Like Balcony says, it's not so bad! The lovely flowers and features you have in the garden far outweigh anything else! Don't you worry about it Sandra, relax have a beer, it'll get done eventually!
Happy Easter! X

23 Apr, 2011

it looks good to me, you have some lovely plants in your garden.

23 Apr, 2011

Think positive Sandra, your beautiful good bits far outdo the messy bits, and at least the netting over the pond is all tucked in nicely under the rocks and stones.
Hope your feeling a little better, dont over do it.
OH and I went away on travelling round Somerset on Thursday, we had one night out and it was sickness and diarrhoea for me all day Friday, so we came home, now poor OH has it.

23 Apr, 2011

23 Apr, 2011

:-)

23 Apr, 2011

Hi Sandra - Just think - if we didn't have any bad bits then the good bits wouldn't look so good would they because they'd all be the same - good. See what I mean ?

The garden will still be there when you feel better - mustn't overdo it - especially as you're not too good yourself.

Just take it easy and do what you can or feel like doing.

Happy Easter to you.

23 Apr, 2011

San, just watered the garden and noticed a Clematis wilting, Bindweed coming through (again) from next door, mini forest of bird seed growing in a border, a Viburnum has been nibbled at and, cheek of it, an Orange marigold has dared to grow! You know I hate orange in my garden. But, on the plus side, Roses are in bud, other Clems are climbing, Dicentra looks beautiful so I have good and bad bits too! Hope you enjoy your takeaway .. lol! : o )

23 Apr, 2011

Loved this blog, Sanbaz, I too have messy and good bits in my garden. I have sandbags along my front garden still, from when the garden flooded and all the bags are splitting, also a barrow-load of water-logged ballast waiting to go to my daughters. It is frustrating sometimes but the sunshine makes up for a lot of things :)

23 Apr, 2011

Your garden looks lovely Sandra, if you hadn't shown us the bad bits we'd never have known they existed! I've got messy bits too and I've no idea who it is causes them, same person who keeps cluttering up my shed I suppose.......me! lol. I walked round my garden today and felt a bit overwhemed by all that needs doing. I just haven't got the physical staying power to do it, one job at a time and bit by bit will have to do. Lots of family stuff going on just now so it's all on hold anyway. :o(

23 Apr, 2011

Stop moaning about Baz. He isn't your servant :)

23 Apr, 2011

23 Apr, 2011

Ha ha you ve not mastered him yet Sandra he wants to go to see old cars no we can't I m too busy shifting the mess under the bench, wheres my dinner sorry I had to fix the bench why is my trousers not ironed sorry I had to shift the mess by the shed see that s how you do it lol every garden has a hidden mess it would nt be a garden if it had nt mine is at the side of the house where I get a lot of every thing from next door so I don't care as I can't see it when I look out my door, only if I venture down there but shrubs hide most of it ha ha. Your garden looks lovely nice planting too.

23 Apr, 2011

Hello! From what I can see, what your call your 'bad bits' are really very tidy storage!! Your garden is looking really lovely, the fences are great...they really suit your style of garden, and I had to look really hard to see the net over your pond!! So all in all it's really rather brill, isn't it!! I'm sorry to hear you're in pain, I hope you start feeling a bit better soon, have a rest and an Easter egg...that'll make a good start!! Take care!
PS: I've got two bad bits in the garden and they're humungous!! As Cristina says ' It's workspace!'

23 Apr, 2011

Sorry San I`m laughing here, in the time you took taking the pics, downloading them and writing your blog, half of your jobs could have been sorted, I think you have worked yourself up into what I would call a paddy, we all have days like that, same as we all have messy, hidden areas, mind you I have to admit they are easier to hide in some gardens depending on the size, I have two cubby corners or dumping grounds as I call them on my paddy days, they just don`t appear on my photo`s, I`ve been storing woodstain for over two years now and I`m still waiting for my hubby to hang a xmas present bought for my garden in 2009, he has a mega todo list, think I might get them done when he retires but won`t hold my breath, bless him he hates gardening and don`t think that will ever change , also I have to be the dogsbody when he does a job for me and that can be a bad combination at times lol.
Sorry you have lost some fish, as you know I have to keep my pond covered and it does spoil the look so I`m reverting back to netting under the stones when the spring flowers have gone over, better than losing my fish is the way I look at it.
You`ll get those areas sorted when you are feeling better, look what you have already achieved that will cheer you up and spur you on...

23 Apr, 2011

Not Blackmail Sandra its sharing you scratch my back I ll scratch yours lol.

24 Apr, 2011

have a happy ester yourself hun !!! and every one else tooo .......................

24 Apr, 2011

thanx Libet for your nice comments , cant imagine you having bad bits in your lovely garden either ;o)
lol sue im ok really i just thought it would be a good blog after seeing karens perfect garden, but your right i do sometimes get a paddy on about it hahaha, glad you do to, thats the trouble when we have hubbys that dont do gardening isnt it, hope you get your jobs done one day soon sue, maybe we should sit down with the men and say if you do this job for me i will help you, like a swop shop hahaa :o)
lol sixpence exactly :o)
Bad day yesterday so wasnt here, IBS attack from 4.30am till 2pm then very sick, so spent the day in bed, my son came to look after me bless him, a bit better today but tum still very bloated, enjoy your day everyone x

25 Apr, 2011

Sorry to hear you weren't well yesterday, San, hope you're improving now. Take it easy and bless your son for looking after you. Lots of lovely blogs and photos on GoY for you to scroll through! I've just been told that son and daughter-in-law are coming over to wash & vac their car, they're in a top floor flat so the hose would never reach! Then watching footie on TV and staying for salad lunch! Good of OH to tell me at 7am today . . . . .

25 Apr, 2011

lol shirley, thanx im taking it easy today, no sun here yet so not missing out, my son johnny also won me some art stuff lol, i got a call yesterday from granthams saying he won the prize draw lol must have filled a slip in when he came with me last week, so he did it for me, going to pick it up tomorrow, cant wait to see what it is.
hope you enjoy your day with son and daughter-in-law, but tipical not get much notice, thats something baz would do to.

25 Apr, 2011

We've got the sun, but a breeze with it today, good for drying the laundry! Well done, Johnny, for being a winner. Hope it's something really good for your artwork! Enjoy your day. : o ))

25 Apr, 2011

thanx shirley, enjoy your day to ;o)

25 Apr, 2011

Interesting to see you photos Sandra...
I hope you feel better soon.. xxx

25 Apr, 2011

thanx Terra, im alot better today and been in the garden pottering lol, the old BBQ behind the garage near my deck has now gone, saw the local scrap man and flagged him down, so its alot tidier there now :o) x

25 Apr, 2011

Nothing wrong with changing the garden a bit at a time ...
I certainly have areas which need tidying and improving
...

I see you "flagged" the scrap man...
Lol... which category ? ...
"unsuitable for GoY" or "self-promotion" ..
... HA HA HA

25 Apr, 2011

hahaahaah lol Terra, yes well and truly flagged :o))your garden always looks wonderfull Terra x

25 Apr, 2011

scrap man?-- I keep missing bits on Goy!!
hope you feel better San, does peppermint tea help--I dring a lot of it and its really nice made with fresh garden mint
anymore art yet? we've stopped for a couple of weeks but I'm still using gouash on mountboard-- like watercolour but slightly more forgiving.....

25 Apr, 2011

scrap metal man Pam, he lives in the village and always going round looking for scrap people leave out for him.
working on stargazer lily painting on black background, hope to go to studio tomorrow if my tum settles, i may try peppermint but not sure about the tea one, im a bit fussy on taste, but havent tried that one, will give it a go thanx, i look 7 months pregnant today :o(but better than yesterday.
glad your still doing your painting Pam even though the class has stopped, is that for easter break?

25 Apr, 2011

yes -- and the wedding next friday...
I did a frosted head of cowparsley and am trying an orchid, its really hard to get the shadow to give the petal a shape-- how are you managing that with the lily?
as to peppermint tea I really like it -- the best taste other than fresh is 'pukka tea' three mint --I hope you like it as its supposed to be good for upsets like yours
xxx

25 Apr, 2011

Pam know what you mean about shading to give a shape, its not easy, with acrylics have to be quick to blend as they dry so quick, so normally use two brushes, say painting some white then the red or pink and try blend in, lol takes time to get use to it Pam, but if right it gives that full petal shape.
as for the tea i will try it, or if i dont like it will get peppermint oil caps :o)

25 Apr, 2011

I'm getting confused as to which things you are painting and which things you are drinking !
Are you painting peppermints and drinking cowparsley ? ;o)

25 Apr, 2011

lol Terra i get confused at class and end up dipping my brush in my tea rather than the pot of water hahaha

25 Apr, 2011

Now I know why your paintings are so wonderful ..
.. and so unique... ;o)

25 Apr, 2011

lol thanx Terra.;o)

25 Apr, 2011

painting water tastes horrible.......

26 Apr, 2011

You think you have untidy bits in your garden San you should see mine. Oh dear I thought the Scots goyers might come down our way and I could invite them to look round our garden but the thought of having to get an ambulance for Karen puts me off issuing an invitation. Her blog did inspire me (I refuse to say she made me feel guilty because it is not true) to clean out the greenhouse. I got rid of cardboard boxes, and empty pots which are past reusing, along with a lot of other clutter. I can actually see the floor again. I must take out a basin of hot soapy water and wash the pots I'm keeping and stack them so I can use them. When I get a "Round tuit" that is. I should have bought one when I saw them for sale somewhere. LOL.
I love your acer and heucheras San. It is a lovely blog.

26 Apr, 2011

there are usually roundtuits for sale at 'Skegness' they keep them for 'the Chissits' ( those Leicester lasses who always ask ' how muchissit'--- you may find one on 'ebay ' Gran.....

26 Apr, 2011

LOL Pamq I said that tongue in cheek. I would not waste my money. I would rather buy a new heuchera. Chissits is a new one on me. I love it.

26 Apr, 2011

thankyou scotsgran glad karens blog inspired you to get something done and also pleased you have bad areas to lol sorry haha im a bit like you and think about things then i dont do them, we are naughty ;o))
lol Pam ;o))

26 Apr, 2011

If we did not have the stuff lying around I would still be minus my plastic covered greenhouse. We are hoarders par excellence. I am a very good filler in of time coming on here 2 or 3 times a day when I sit down with a coffee but look at the grand education you get from participating with such a lot of happy people. I hope you feel better now.

26 Apr, 2011

Goy can be relied upon to raise a smile.....xxx

26 Apr, 2011

lol scotsgran, your right i spend more time on and off here than anything else i think , anyway its raining now, just got back from art class and other running around jobs, so an hour or so on here then dinner and look like iv been none stop when OH walks in :o))
