Hi Guys,
last wednesday was barrys birthday so i got two tickets for the classic car show birmingham NEC. as a present for him.
On the friday we went for a lovely meal at the castle casino in blackpool and a flutter on the roulette tables, great meal but lost on the tables, not to much as im not a gambler really, just a flutter once in a while, great night though.
Saturday morning took my painting into grundy gallery, this was my indipendant painting and have one in for the artsociety to.
then took casper to the cat hotel 5 star of course lol
Then set off to birmingham in time to go to the Bull ring shopping centre which i hadnt been before, it was amazing but so so busy, to busy to look properly.
Anyway i did manage to buy two new tops so not bad.
We left before dinner time to avoid the mad rush out of the centre and soon arrived at our B&B in marston green not far from the airport and NEC, got settled in, quite a nice room and lovely landlady
unfortunatle i didnt sleep well as people above were loud and had tv on till 1am and doors banging, but im not one to just sit and take that so dressing gown on and up i went haha, knocked and a young lad came to the door, i politly asked him to keep the noise down as it was keeping us awake, he just muttered and closed the door.
took about another 30 mins for them all to get to bed, so after that i was so stressed i couldnt sleep :o(
Next morning up at 7am breakfast and away, told the landlady and she was a bit upset our sleep was ruined and said i should have woke her but i couldnt do that and not her fault, told her we enjoyed her home and breakfast.
Then spent over 5 hours walking around the car show which was great and baz really enjoyed it all, our poor backs were killing us after but worth it, didnt go in the top gear show as it was so expensive on top of what we had already spent on the classic car show, mind you dont think we would have been able to stand much longer lol
so all in all a great weekend and one happy hubby :o))
so i took loads of pics but will just show you a few, thats if your into classic cars
the photo above is the kids section where for about 1500-4000 pounds you could buy a car or lorry for your child, the lorry in photo was sold at about 2500. spoiled children or what
There was some fantastic artists selling paintings and prints os cars and car racing through the ages, i loved viewing them
the milatary section was great and they were collecting for help the heros and while we were there it was the two min silence, really strange seeing such a noisy busy place become completly silent and so still, it really brought tears to my eyes
Finally about 16 weeks ago 6 old cars were found at a families home and have been bourght and will be restored to their former glory to keep these wonderfull classic cars alive so anyone like myself and baz can enjoy seeing them
This pic was the set made to look like the place they found the 6 cars,
so iv gone on lol, alot more pics but wont bore you any longer haha
thanx for looking :o)))))

Very interesting blog, Sanbaz. My daughter and family are into classic cars, they have two morris minors, and for the last three years have attended the Goodwood Revival, all dressed up in 40's and 50's clothes! Glad you enjoyed your weekend in spite of the sleepless night :)

I just LOVE that little black & yellow Austin police car, Sanbaz, and the little half-timbered Morris. Seeing that little bubble car (Isetta? Bond Mini?) brought back memories - my Mum used to have one (a Heinkel) back in the early sixties. We used to be terrified driving in it, so low down and so close up and under the back bumpers of huge lorries. She used to come and collect me from the Saturday night hop in our local town each week, no later than 11.30p.m.. She'd drive this tiny bubble car into the carpark, and she'd be already for bed, dressed in nightie, dressing gown and curlers. As a teenager, you can guess how mortified I was. Better than walking the 3 miles home along unlit country roads, though. We came to an understanding, and from then on she would park up a little side road near the church hall, so none of my jeering friends could see her. Haven't things changed?

Its funny but we often say 'if only' we had kept our old cars from the sixties! I had old mini's and mu hubb had an Austin, they would have been collectors items now.lol, bit like us!! Great photos San. nice day out.

so glad you had a good weekend..despite the sleepless night..Russell would have loved this too..glad you managed some retail therapy for yourself ! Lol.
15 Nov, 2011
Great blog, Sandra! Glad you both enjoyed your day out!
There are 4 or 5 "classic" cars here where I live, at least 2 Morris Minors with the woodwork on their backs - look so strange amongst today's traffic! Until they moved house earlier this year I used to pass a house where they had a Morris Minor parked outside, alongside the house. I remember as a kid in London that I always wanted to get one of those when I grew up! LOL! Now a couple of year's salary couldn't buy you one!

Well done on treating Baz to the show ... and you got to buy a couple of tops for yourself ... good weekend for both of you! ... I love the black car Baz is looking at in the last pic ... running boards and all! ... Our daughter and friends have been to the Goodwood Revival twice ... can you believe she went as a Land Army girl last time ... talk about unglamorous ... lol!

Thanks San really enjoyed this blog, we love all the old cars, had some ourselves over the years, a very nice Triumph Spitfire still have the photo of OH sitting in it with his shorts on, as it was a very hot summer and we had the roof down.....those were the days lol wish we had it now! Pity you had trouble at your b & b so annoying and selfish of people, don't know how you kept going all day... our eldest daughter goes to Goodwood enjoys the dressing up etc.
