Hi Guys and Girlies,
hope your all well and iv noticed quite a few are already in garden mode, infact alot of you except ME!
why i ask myself cant i get going, anyway iv been out there for an inspection lol, not good infact it ready for doing.
i need to clear dead plant stems and leaves, i can see new life appearing which is great, ladybirds emerging from the dead wood, i thought i saw a red devil but it fell out of sight when i tried to grab it, Doh!
some plants are way to big for their possition near pond, but that will be done when we fit the new pond maybe next month.
when i stand here and look down the garden it seems overwelming and i turn away quick.
i know i can do it and i know when i get going it will soon be looking good again.
Its the starting it i cant do, takes ages to gear myself up, are you all the same as me, i know some arent, some of you are always in the garden no matter what the weather or time of year, wish i could be like that.
anyway took a couple of pics to show you a bit of life in my garden also alot of mess to be cleared lol

as you can see lots of dead stuff to get rid of and the grass is so very wet, so that will be a while before it gets its first cut, we had so much rain through summer and winter here not like some dry places with drouts.
Anyway i go away a week sat so when i get back im sure i will feel more like doing it all,
happy gardeing my GOYer friends :o)))) xx

Hi Terra and thankyou, the sun has just shown its face but so wet out there, its hard when i cant stand on the grass to do my raised border, so waiting till after hols now, lots and lots of ladybirds which is great :o)) xx

I know exactly how you feel San, it probably means you are not quite fit enough. I think when you are, you will have no problem going out there, and a little bit of sunshine will help too.

29 Feb, 2012

Hi Cinders glad you know how i feel, but your right soon be out there and feeling great again lol, nice to see you :o)) x

29 Feb, 2012

I know what your saying San, I keep sitting here looking out at the garden thinking it needs a good spring clean, but just can't get motivated,

29 Feb, 2012

I think it is that we are still wet San and a bit grey skied. I just tried a little about an hour ago, the sciatica wont let me so I wont push it.

29 Feb, 2012

I find that I get drawn in slowly but surely once I see things begin to sprout. I'll wander out just to look at something and then find myself pottering a little bit, maybe just for a few minutes. Then I see something I'd like to shift or prune or whatever and before I know it I'm out there as often as weather permits and grumbling when I can't get out.

29 Feb, 2012

Hi Val, glad your on the bench with me and cinders lol :o))
oh dear pimpernel come join us on the bench, we will watch for now ;o))

29 Feb, 2012

good idea O93 maybe i should give that ago, slowly does it lol :o))

29 Feb, 2012

I'm on the bench with you alright san, sit here on the computer looking out the back thinking the lawn needs cutting, the patio needs power washing, plants and weeds to pull up, greenhouse to sort out, think I will just sit on the bench for a bit longer,

Hi San, its still only feburary! There's loads of time :) There could be frost or even snow again next week.. I have loads to do but i know its too soon, there's a border to empty but the plants havent even started poking through yet, Im dying to take the plants out the Ghouse but i know ill regret it, ive started too early in the past before and regreted it so, have your holiday, relax and when you get back that will probably be the right time to start your garden :)
Have a Fab, Fab, Fab time...Love Dee..

29 Feb, 2012

Hi Sandra - loads of growing time!!! Love the ladybird :))))) the gloomy weather does not help us much either :(( Stay hopeful Sandra it will all come right :)))))))))))))

29 Feb, 2012

On the sunny days, I potter and poke, trim a few clematis of dead leaves as the new growth starting..potted on a few new plants..but still not quite in the mode Sandra, its a bit like a cold engine, needs gentle encouragement lol!

29 Feb, 2012

by the way, your peony looks promising!

29 Feb, 2012

It looks good to me San. A little bit of tidying...not too much really, and it will be ship shape again. Your reaction to your garden is similar to mine when it comes to housework. I find it really hard to make a start some days....that's why I'm always in the garden...I'm avoiding the house!! :)))) xx

29 Feb, 2012

29 Feb, 2012

Lovely pictures Sandra, the garden is definitely waking up. I have been in the garden all day today, I've cut the grass and tidied up, all done now, naught much to do for me as I have been gardening throughout the winter except when it snowed recently.

29 Feb, 2012

I'm sure you'll soon have your garden all spick and span, Sanbaz, especially when that lovely new pond is installed. You've got some lovely colour there already and that will cheer you too :)

29 Feb, 2012

Hi Sandra
Know how you feel , the very wet and cold winter as played havoc withe gardens up North, mine is very much like yours, but we did have one nice warm day last week so gritted my teeth and got stuck in, quite therputic once I started and looking much more promising now. So dont depair you will know when you are feeling well enough to tackle it and in the meantime lots of lovely promises are lurking underneath the winter debris just waiting to cheer you up ;0)x

29 Feb, 2012

Hi Sandra, as Karen said its looking pretty good to me. I've been a little on the fence with the weather being so miserable but now things are starting to perk up I've been chomping at the bit to get out there. Finally got some time off work so I was out yesterday. Started to go out today but my nan phoned asking for help, so packed it in to go round. *Sigh* back to work tomorrow though :( Have to leave the rest for some other time I guess.

I'll bet you'll be right back to gardening once your back from your holiday. Hope you have a wonderful break.

29 Feb, 2012

The best time to do it is when you're in the mood. Everyone's gardens look a bit sorry for themself until things start growing again. I bet in another month you'll be ready to tackle it!

You will feel much more like it with the sun on your back San , everything looks nice and normal to me .. I have to ask " what is a Red Devil " ? I've never heard of one ........

29 Feb, 2012

I've been out there all this week & on Tuesday I even had some help from another Goyer.
If I lived closer Sanbaz I would come & help you get started :-)

29 Feb, 2012

Feeling a bit like you too Sandra..your garden does not look too bad..i spent about 15 mins tidying up the border & that was enough for me today..we go away on Tuesday so i hope to come home with a bit more energy..some hope..you may feel better after your break :o)

29 Feb, 2012

Happy gardening to you too San, you will soon be in the mood when you come back, the winter will be over and it will be a fresh start. x

29 Feb, 2012

Enjoy your holiday, plenty of time to tidy up when you get back, we could all do with a little sunshine now couldn't we?

29 Feb, 2012

Hey San, I am the same too, one look and then I come back indoors anyway its too bloomin cold to do anything just yet. My border looks just like yours Lol. All that dead stuff will pull up easily and for the moment it is protecting what is underneath. Have a lovely break, enjoy the sun and then on your return it will be a little warmer. x

29 Feb, 2012

Hi Sandra, I'm sure you'll feel motivated when the sun shines and you go out there "just for a look" and then you start to fiddle with this and that and before you know it you won't want to come indoors and do the boring stuff!
Hope you have a lovely holiday, you deserve it. :o))

29 Feb, 2012

Oh dear, if you think yours is a mess its a good job you can't see mine. None of my autumn work got done and then I was ill in January and it all looked impossible. However I have made a start with a little "autumn digging" and a little gentle muck spreading. Tried to get a boinfire gojng but it was to damp. But its surprising how much difference you can make in just an hour or two. After all its only just time to start removing the dead stems from last year, and it doesn't take long. This time next week I bet your garden will be transformed. Your spring flowers are lovely, especially those little anemones.

29 Feb, 2012

Any room left on that bench San...:>)

29 Feb, 2012

The weather here in Newcastle has been lovely, so I have managed to get a lot more done ,but I am still being a little cautious as the weather may turn nasty again. My next door neighbour (who I am speaking to again )is keeping me supplied with cup's of tea. After your holiday Sanbaz maybe you will feel ready to get gardening once again (by the way I like the red devil) :-))

1 Mar, 2012

your right Linda iv learned over the years not to go mad, i have ended up in pain before doing far to much at once. good luck with the moss, i dont have that problem, but do get lots of dandilions which are a pain to remove :o(

1 Mar, 2012

I'm the same Sandra - can't go out there when it's cold :o( but I know it will still be there and waiting for me on nice spring days ...
There's a saying that goes "the longest journey starts with one small step" so once you make that step you'll be well on the way to having a beautiful garden again Sandra :o) x
Have a lovely holiday and bring back some pics to show us .....

Hi Sandra, love to read your blog. I am very much like you. I am a recovering agoraphobic. I used to have a huge passion for gardening. I owned my own seed company and bred plants and then I completely burned out. Couldnt do it any more. Didnt want to even go into my garden. It stood neglected for two years as I never left the house. Then two years ago I pulled down an old conservatory that was seperating me from the garden. It opened up a large patio area that served as a kind of buffer for me to go into my garden once more. It was a very slow process. I have had to just do little bits and often so that I dont feel over whelmed. This is the first year I have ordered and sown some seeds. My passion for gardening is returning and I feel more like me again. I have not liked this winter. SO very dark. Like you my garden is quite wet so havent been in it much. Have pruned all my clematis and tidied up but that is all. Just dont really know what to do with it now. It is exciting though to see all the plants bursting into life. I cant wait for summer! Im sure in a few weeks both of us will really enjoy being out there feeling the dirt between our fingers. :)

Hi Psilo im so sorry to hear you have suffered with such an awfull illness, i have known a couple of people who have also suffered this, not easy at all, but im so glad to hear you are fighting it and now able to venture into your garden, its a great start.
i would hate to go through what you have, iv found it bad enough with depression.
anyway you enjoy sowing your seeds and gardening, its sunny today but rather cold, no time for my garden yet as going away saturday for a week, but hope to start when i return.
take care and keep up the good work :o) x
