Hello again and welcome to part two of our break in scotland,
While at Logon we went to port patrick a small but lovely port with a hand full of shops and a pub and not over populated,
we just had a nice walk round till i stepped in some poop left by a useless pet owner, makes me mad but like i said to Baz not the dogs fault but the owner,, moan over lol

Tuesday we decided to get the tran from Lockerbie to Edinburgh as it was a shorter journey and no hastle parking, really enjoyed the train as its been years since i have been on a train journey.
I couldnt believe how big Edinburgh was and how busy and noisy, nice to see it but not for me, im a country or quiet town person myself.
We headed up to the castle where things were being done for the tattoo but so many people up there must make a fortune.
Baz decided he didnt want to pay over £30 for us to go inside and toi be quite honest it was a bit much, so we looked about the outside then started back down to the art galleries, more my thing.
Great to see the national gallery there and the exhibiton i enjoyed, even a deep conversation with a man there on what or wasnt art lol
After a good few hours of walking about the city we were bushed and headed back to catch the train back to Lockerbie where the car was

wednesday we went to see the Aviation museum near Dumfries for Baz :o((( boring haha sorry i forgot my camera haha,
Our last night we drove to Gretna Green to have dinner at the Gretna Inn, how romantic i hear you say haha, enjoyed it though and enjoyed our time away, hope you enjoyed reading and looking at the pics to

I love Edinburgh San, we are going to the tattoo on the 3rd Aug. so we will be up there for four days, enough time to explore and have a little break. Shame on you forgetting your camera at the aviation museum (yawn)! My hubb has a million photos of aeroplanes (yawn) heaven knows what we are going to do with them! That price to go in the castle is way over the top isnt it!!

That first little place looks lovely :o)

The towns are small and so friendly, did you go through Newton Stewart? Proper little shops with people behind the counters nothing rushes up here take time to smile and chat...its a different world.....

Love the gorillas!!!

6 Jul, 2012

Glad you enjoyed your trip north Sandra. The Scottish National Gallery is one of our favourite places too. I have never been in the castle....too expensive. :o) I know what you mean about visiting gardening friends, our other halves would feel out of place.

hi Linda i loved the national gallery it was lovely to have visited there, im glad you understand about other halves etc haha,,, men lol :o)
thankyou sandra it was a bit to expensive to visit the castle and all the visitors they get im sure they could make it cheaper, i think they get gready so dont blame Baz for not paying the price :o)
stroller if you do manage to get there wear comfy shoes its all hills and lots of walking, huge place :o)
carole glad it brought back memories of your visit to, i was amazed how small an area the tattoo seating area was, as i said looks bigger on tv but i can imagine its a great experience to be there :o))

San, did you see that prog. with Prince Charles all about the restoration of the big house at Dumfries? It was very interesting, i loved it and he is doing a lot of good there building affordable homes for folk and restoring the gardens and house. They have opened a tea room which looked nice (well the cake did!) Lol

6 Jul, 2012

lol grandmage, dont mention cake i have to lose a bit of weight now we are back.
i heard about that tv program but havent seen it, sounds a good thing and its nice to think the royals want to help in some way, affordable housing is a must for young ones these days, hard to get a morgage for them, shame really, glad we arent starting out now.

6 Jul, 2012

I agree, it is too difficult for them, the main thing being the enourmous deposit they are expected to put down :(

6 Jul, 2012

There are life sized sheep going fairly cheap near us. Nearly bought one for my folks but didn't think they really wanted one!!! (unlike me cos they tickle my sense of humour!)

6 Jul, 2012

exactly Grandmage, times are tough :o((
Lulu if i can find one at the right price im getting one, like you i have a strange sence of humour haha and dont care lol
wonder if they have them on ebay,
going to look haha ;o))

6 Jul, 2012

Let us know then San!!
