Gardening in july, and sun to

Hi Guys,
joe was off work today so offered his help in the garden which i was so pleased, after being away and getting back and busy i havent had chance.
Also after the bad weather though not as bad as some i have to say i had lost a bit of will to get out there.
Anyway this is my second attempt to do this blog, i had just posted the last photo and lost internet connection grrrr, so here i am agaon re-writing and will have to upload pics again, so frustrating isnt it.
Anyway back to where i was, joe mowed the lawn and edged it, great my garden already looked alot better and back to tidy, i started weeding, dead heading and snipping, lots of weeds and Doc leaves which had to be pulled out, its so hard to find the bottom of weeds when your garden is full of plants lol
After doing a couple of hours it looked so much better, i stop at that because of my back, it wont take all day garden sprints now, am i getting older i ask myself haha, yep seems that way, but at least not working full time i can do a bit each day and keep up.
So a few pics taken from the house going round so you can see what its like this wonderfull wet july, nice to have sun last few days though and just light rain in evening.
Hope you enjoy the tour
i dont know what i would do without joe, he is so helpfull, a great son and gets me through so many upsetting times with my eldest son, i will miss him when he goes back to uni, children are like plants some we adore and some we dont like that much, but whatever they become we will always love them because we tendered and nutured them,
happy gardening friends

I need my boy to come back so I can get some paving slabs lifted San!! Could you lend me Joe? lol! It all looks great ..amazing what a couple of hours and some sun can do for us and our gardens. I've been out all day ...no rain and even some bursts of sunshine. I'll suffer for it later (back, like yours) but hey-ho my spirits are much lifted! :D

You lucky mum, it must be grand to have a helper, he`s made a good job of it as well.
Its very cloudy here but at least its not raining, we have had some sunshine and even got some washing outside today, I have also been pottering around outside, making the most of it, lol...
9 Jul, 2012
lol sue and dont blame you, its still sunny here and just sat outside for 5 mins to see if it was real haha
will tell joe what you said he will be pleased :o))

Isn`t it lovely to have a helper especially an extra special one, the garden is now looking grand and I love the little white bench in the first picture.
Like you my son gave me a hand to experiment with a go at topary (only a ball shape) he`s just back from hospital had keyhole surgery so couldn`t do anything heavy but it was lovely just having him there.

aww scottish wish i could send joe to help, making me feel guilty haha :o))
9 Jul, 2012
Don't feel guilty San....if I shout loud enough - he does as he is asked! I use a bit of emotional blackmail......
I tell him that I'll remember his help next time he wants to tap me for some money :))))
9 Jul, 2012
lol scottish, a woman after my own heart, brill :o)
9 Jul, 2012
nothing wrong with that...boys can be a tad selfish...they need a wee reminder sometimes!
9 Jul, 2012
Lovely blog - everything's looking so fresh - must be all the rain!!

Think boys are more likely to have what I call 'Nut and bolt' brains. The other side of their brain is developed, they are good at mechanical things. Horticulture is not an attractive subject to some of them. Mention Football and they soon switch on. When I asked my son if he would like to see my garden, he said " Why?"
It hurts.

your garden looks great Sandra. i'm sure you enjoyed having Joe to help out and spend precious time with. and your pond has settled in soooo well ..x
9 Jul, 2012
You've got a lovely garden Sandra. You've shown some views of it that I haven't seen before ...
Joe is a good son, and that must be a great comfort to you :o)
9 Jul, 2012
All looking lovely Sandra, love your pond area and your lovely Acer its so nice to be able to get out in the garden, I spent yesterday doing the same in mine, lots of staking needed and cutting back from the steps and paths, but worth the achey knees and back;0))
9 Jul, 2012
Great blog San, brilliant way to show all the garden. Its nice to know the layout of someones garden, it helps you understand it more :-)
9 Jul, 2012
Beautiful garden Sanbaz.
9 Jul, 2012
It all looks lovely - so neat and well cared for with pretty things all around.
I wrote a poem some years ago about our younger son. It was called ' What is this thing called a duster?'.......He would not have been quite as useful in your garden today!!! He's lovely though!
9 Jul, 2012

joe does care Dotty, a good lad, he has my side in him haha
Bench i got last year at local garden centre in sale, it folds away which is great to, i need a nice cushion for it to ;o))
10 Jul, 2012

11 Jul, 2012
Your garden looks lovely, Sandra and I especially like the pond area. Lucky you to have your son helping willingly. Mine would/will, if asked but I know they take no pleasure in it so I don't usually ask, unless I'm really struggling. Anyway, only the youngest at home now so others and daughter all have their own places to look after. Am afraid the really heavy work falls to OH, but he doesn't mind too much.

thankyou tuesdaybear, my helper has gone back to wales now working and with his girlfriend untill they both go back to Lampeter to uni, so its back to me doing my own gardening and maybe OH if i can twist his arm a little lol :o))

I'm trying to catch up on here Sandra ...fat chance! ...your garden's looking lovely and so tidy. I especially like the area where your bird bath is and around your pond, hasn't it come on. It's so satisfying isn't it to get it looking good again, even the aches and pains don't feel so bad when there is such a good reason for them:-)
