this is not a gardening blog but i just had to share…

last week after being admitted to hospital for the first time in her life…. Mrs Connie Brown MBE aged 102 died.
up until the week before she was still working 6 days a week in her chip shop in Pembroke. she was always smiling and happy to see you and cooked the most delicious chips. her daughter worked with her and shes in her late 70s…..when she first open the chip shop in 1928 chips cost 1 1/2 old pence…..

the whole town turned out to show their respects. on her last birthday she took a tour around the town on the back of a motorbike leading a parade of bikers….some of who led the funeral proccesion today….

the shops in town closed their doors as a mark of respect and many including this florist displayed this pic in their window…

RIP Mrs Brown….

thanks.
i'm amazed that she had never been into hospital before.. its awesome to think of the changes that have happened in her life time...she lived through two world wars...she saw the Wright brothers take to the air for the first time...and was aready in her 40s when Elisabeth took to the throne....

they just showed her funeral on the Welsh news... i was reminded that on her 100th birthday the round table 'kidnapped' her on horseback and held her hostage to raise funds for the air ambulence...101 was spent touring around in a lomosine....102 was spent on the back of a motor trike leathers and all....what a lady..;-))

I agree Sandra, so lucky to have had her health right up to the end.

We can learn so much from people like that who live life to the full, whatever their age

My mother is nearly 103, but has been in a nursing home bed for two years - not much of a life, I'm afraid.

my sympathies to your mum..to get over the one hundred is amazing. hope she is comfortable. Mrs Brown was so very lucky....
