Addictive: this gardening lark!

How many iris do you actually have? A question asked by my OH as he walked past the rockery. Now that is similar to asking a fashionado ‘How many pairs of shoes do you have?’
How to respond? Just the reticulata, or just the histriodes? I assumed he didnt mean the bearded ones that are just showing leaves.

So how many do I have? More than I thought.
the following are the reticulata.

This is Pixie and in real life a rich purply blue.

Alida a soft paleish blue.

Purple Gem, this has survived in pots on the pond wall for several years now.

A pot of Harmony.

This is Pauline.

DS Dijt a lovely pinky purple one.

This soft clear blue is Cantab.

Gordon is one of the latest ones to join my collection new this year.

I did have George and Edward but I havent seen them this year. Yet!

There are still others I’d like to get but may be next year.

I used to have Clariette too, not sure where I put her. I suspect she was eaten long ago by squirrels. There are some other very pretty ones that I will add to my collection. Also some of the histrioides ones. Different sources put George in that one rather than the reticulata.

A sure sign that winter is drawing to a close and spring is here. despite the snow!

They are all so pretty. I love the pot of Harmony. Are they easy to grow in pots?

They're lovely. I didn't know there were so many types. I like the dark purple ones.

I only have one type of iris, don't know its name, but after seeing all of these I want more. They're gorgeous!

they do brilliantly in pots as they like to get dry and warm in the summer. I usually put pelargoniums in the pots in the summer so the bulbs dont get overly wet. considering the poor summer last year I am amazed at how well they have done.

They are well worth the relatively inexpensive cost.
