Sisters but oh so different.

My mum died 17.12.95 aged 79 and as I left my child hood home after her lovely funeral I was given the cyclamen plant that I had bought for her 75th birthday [17.12 91]. That Christmas was naturally subdued but as my eldest daughter was only 3 we had to put a brave face on it. By New Year I noticed a seed pod was forming. Non of the seeds germinated sadly. Over the next few years I regularly pollinated flowers and then 6 years ago success.
I now have 3 flowering plants.
This was 6 days ago. the next one was 3 days ago.
And this today.
This one has 2 identical sisters but whilst they are identical they look very different to this sister.
Their mother is a slim, non frilly flower shape like daughter number one but she is pure white. There are now buds forming but it has had some thrip damage that has now been treated, hopefully successfully. First time I have had any disease on this plant so fingers crossed it will recover.
The corm is a good 8" across now with several growing points on the crown. After this season it will be repotted in fresh compost ready for next year.
Isn’t genetics wonderful.

It is lovely to have so many memories of her in the house and garden. I also have an african violet that came from a leaf cutting. My brother has the original plant still.
