View down the garden from my granny chair

Chatting earlier, I mentioned that I started a gardening group about 20 years ago for people who like gardening to see others’ gardens. It is something that I love, and I’ve heard Monty agreeing with me! We take it in turns to meet every week, walk round that hostess’s garden, and then sit and chat over tea, coffee and cake. I called it Gardening: Tea & Tips, but of course, once we have exchanged ‘tips’, we talk about everything and anything that comes to mind. It is a very friendly group, and currently we are all missing meeting, but every now and then exchange photos.
So I have just taken these, and will share them with the group. I love the view, but didn’t plan the planting carefully . . . Viburnum Kilimanjaro on the right, then beyond the first two beds there is a bright pink Dianthus, beyond that is Cercis canadensis Forest Pansy, and beyond that white and purple Hesperis . . . a combination which occurred quite by chance :)

Beautiful day today – many people wearing shorts!

Julia, weโre lucky in our town as there is an umbrella group covering any activity you could think of. It was started in the 1980s by my boss at the time - William - who owned and managed the local bookshop. There are over 50 groups, including walks, languages, theatre visits, and anyone can suggest a new group.
Thanks Paul, no, sending photos suits us. There are many elderly members who wouldnโt cope with a virtual tour. However I do Zoom with the French group.
Thanks Daylily ๐.

No, but a very similar idea Julia. This umbrella group is unique to our town ๐.

Yes very lucky Julia, being so easy to set up. Thanks ๐.

Your garden looks better every time we see it Sheila. Nobody would guess its so recently made. You have every right to be really proud of it.

Love to see photos of your garden as it is ' just right!' as Goldilocks would say! It is very pretty and everything is perfectly placed but very natural looking also.

What a lovely idea to have gardening friends visit each other's gardens. I would love to join a group like that. They must enjoy it when they visit your garden, it is lovely :)
Yes it has been warm today. I was one of those persons wearing shorts lol I'll probably wear them until autumn now. I hate long trousers in the summer.

Beautiful design.

Our local HPS group is sending a bulletin to its members about what is going on in our gardens. Though I do like the idea of tea and cake too.

Many thanks everyone for your lovely comments ๐ .

Sheila I can't believe how your garden has developed in such a short time. I love the Gardening, Tea and Tips, sadly my garden is far too small to 'walk' around, but I'm still up for walking round yours anytime. ๐๐

What a lovely group to be part of and your garden is just getting better and better.

Thanks Fernever.
Thanks Julia ... when I spoke to the designer, I said I wanted an informal garden โthat I can walk roundโ. He exceeded my dreams! Youโd be welcome any time ...
Thank you Phyl - how kind ๐.

I'll hold you to that Sheila if we're ever your way. :-)

I shall be happy to see you Julia ๐ .

It is stunning Sheila, is it South facing :-))
29 May, 2020
Thanks Daylily! No, the garden faces north-east . . . shady on the right and sunny on the left.
29 May, 2020
Ours is north facing so I can have a nice sunny border at the bottom of the garden

Looks wonderful Sheila. It is a great combination of neat, crisp landscaping and naturalistic planting. The Rich Brothers would love it....you could invite them around...can I come also? ;)

Thank you very much Karen. Yes, of COURSE you can come and visit - any time! I wonder what we would talk about, ha ha . . . :)

Sheila, that's an excellent idea - Gardening Tea & Tips!. Have you thought of doing a 'virtual tour' and video conferencing. It's almost like being there, at least during quarantine.
