Not brilliant photos – I just wish the colours would show more vibrantly. Is it me, or is it the camera?!
Old bench, I just painted!
Hydrangea petiolaris for Ange
Wider view
Viburnum ‘kilimanjaro’
Phlox ‘chattahoochee’
My favourite Penstemon – anyone know the name? (a pretty lilac colour)

What a glorious day … but having to sit in the shade!

lovely blog and photos. my camera is not happy with colour at the moment either. I must have altered the settings some how.
could the penstemon be harlequin lilac? or cha-cha lavender?

Thank you all very much. Ange, my H. Petiolaris is in shade most of the day. I’m grateful for all your penstemon suggestions and will Google them all 🙂.

I like your bench Sheila, and you have interesting plants.
My camera takes hopeless photos, or should that be I take hopeless photos lol ... but I enhance them on the computer so they don't look so bad. However the colour is never as good as in real life.

Thank you Hywel, that’s consoling 🙂.

Can't see anything wrong with the colours Sheila - they look very natural to me! Have to agree with Klahanie, it has matured quickly and looks as if its been there for a long time.Your blue Penstemon is beautiful!

Many thanks for your lovely comments Klahanie and Sue!

I think Penstemon ‘sour grapes’ looks the closest … thank you Ange!

I like your bench very much and the mauve penstemon is such a delcate colour. It is one of the nicest shades I have seen.
Your photos are lovely.

Loving your paintwork, Sheila! You’ve made a grand job of refreshing your bench.
You’ve such pretty, colourful flowers…I do love your raised bed, very attractive brickwork and pretty geraniums.

Phyl, you’ve got good taste! Kilimanjaro was the “plant of Chelsea” a few years ago. Thanks for your comment 🙂.
Thank you Kate … funny how quite little things can give us so much pleasure: I love that raised bed too 🙂.

Your garden looks lovely and it has matured so rapidly. I had a scan back to you blog towards the end of April and it looked very different to the view today. It's amazing how fast things change - just turn your back and it's all different. The geranium bed will be a picture for the rest of the summer I expect.

Well you have some fab plants Sheila, I love the Viburnum. Your seat looks very smart and reminds me my table could do with another coat of ebony wood stain!

Thanks Janey. A quick rub with sandpaper and a new coat of paint is so quick and easy but makes such a difference 🙂.

You have some cracking plants, Sheila. Thank you for sharing your climbing hydrangea - I think mine needs more light to flower, it's in quite a lot of shade.
Your penstemon could be Stapleford Gem or Sour Grapes, if the flowers are not the largest. Both lovely, shimmery mauves.
