Just a short wander … the leaf colours have been amazing this year!
Cotinus in its first year – it has already grown well and will fill the corner before long.
Beech hedge
Hakonechloa macra
Smaller Hakonechloa
Prunus ‘Chocolate Ice’
I was inspired by some lovely photos from several GoY members including Hywel, Klahanie, Kate, Julia, Ange and Janey to take these shots :)

what glorious colours Sheila. That is such a typical set of leaf colours for beech. We have a stand alone beech tree and a beech hedge. I will be glad when all the leaves have dropped but oddly the hedge holds on to its leaves until spring, where as the tree drops them all at the same time, well over a week or two.

I was a bit jealous of your beech hedge Sheila - ours is still green! You have some lovely colours in your garden.
Eileen its great that there is a shrub (tree) that keeps its leaves - makes a really good shelter for the robins! (Is privet a little tree or a shrub do you think? It gets quite big if its not cut back.

You've some stunning colours there Sheila!
I do love your prunus chocolate ice and the cotinus, beautiful Autumn colours.
My hakonechloa shines like yours in the low sun, aren't they just lovely...

Nice colourful photos Sheila, I especially like the Beech leaves. It's a pleasure to see your garden.
I am pleased to know I inspired you :)

Klahanie, thank you. Yes, we are having quite good weather for November - cold but occasionally sunny.
Eileen, thanks. Yes, there’s a lovely Beech tree opposite the house which has only just started to drop its leaves; I’m glad the hedge keeps its leaves all winter.
Thanks Sue. We have been leaving pruning most of our Laurel hedge in the back as the birds need it more than we do!
Thank you very much Janey … good to know you have the lovely Hakonechloa too 🙂.
Hywel thank you, you are very kind 🙂.

Beautuful autumn colours this year, and still hanging on. Your autumn illuminations are lovely, Sheila.

Lovely autumn colours on your trees, Sheila! 😃
I'm trying to get some shots of trees around here but the strong winds we had been having & blown so many off there are few trees with decent displays left.😞

Thanks very much Ange 🙂.
Thank you Balc … that’s a shame you can’t get the shots you wanted …

I agree, the colour has been more intense! Probably because leaf fall is late due to mild weather.
I love the Autumn! I also love to look round the garden and plan for next year.

Wow, Sheila!!! Those colours -simply stunning! The cotinus looks it’s best in autumn, I’m loving it! I want one now!
I am quite taken with the hakonechloa too, it’s beautiful in the warmer months, but, I didn’t realise how lovely it looks in autumn too!!!!
I’ve been catching sight of many beech hedges on my travels, and they are so attractive this month as is yours! Your prunus is pretty too, so much striking colour in your garden right now!!!!!! Thanks for sharing.

Stunning colours.
The beech photo has so many pretty shades and hues in it. A touch of purples and greys.
