Lilac. I have just cut three branches of this and brought them into the house to enjoy the lovely scent.
Honesty
Cercis canadensis Florest Flame …
…tiny blossoms just coming out before the leaves.
That’s all for today folks!

Thanks Klahanie, I hope your Cercis canadensis won’t disappoint you.

It is, Eileen. My latest crush is a “lilac” Agrostemma (corncockle) but I don’t have any yet 🙂.

ooh I've not seen lilac corncockles. I have the typical magenta pink ones.

I like the white ones too Eileen, ‘Ocean Pearl’.

Loving your collection, Sheila! I'm with you on the lilac and purple tones. I'm envious! My lilac is yet to bloom with scented flowers.

Thanks Kate, glad you’ve got your Lilac to look forward to 🙂.

Lots of lilac trees & bushes now flowering around here! The 'Judas Tree' at the end of our street is blooming a couple of week earlier than other years but I still haven't been down to get a picture of it yet this year!

I bet the scent in your home is lovely! Someone once told me it was unlucky to have it in the house , but we had a huge lilac tree years ago and always had some in the house! Must have been an old wives tale!

Thanks Rose!

I finally got my photos of the Judas Tree at the end of the road! Lilacs are flowering everywhere around here at present as well as a couple my son has put in his garden!
When I was a small boy in London there were some Lilac bushes not far from our house & my brothers & I liked to pick some flowers for Mum but she always told us it was unlucky to have them in the house! Never knew why!

My dad would never allow lilac or lilies in the house, he considered them to represent a death in the family,in his defence I fully understood his reasoning, his mum always took him to visit when someone passed away, gruesome for a young lad, he said families would always have both next to the coffins so he hated them.....
On a better note I personally love lilac and have a miniature one in the front, its beautiful this year, sadly unlike the larger variety there is no lovely perfume..
My honesty has all turned white, it was a lovely purple when I planted it.....

That’s strange about your Honesty, Sue, and also about your miniature lilac … ours is just flowering, but no scent, and when I bought it years ago it’s scent was the reason I bought it!
