Autumn day in the garden

It’s snowing leaves here today, but the sun is shining intermittently, so thought I would take the camera for a stroll. One day I might learn to take better photos!
Mixture with plenty of pink Salvias
Pink Geranium with Verbena Blush and Hakonechloa
Anemone ‘Charlotte"
Anemone ’Wild Swan’ just decided to appear with Verbena Sissinghurst Pink
White Dahlia with Aster and Sesleria grasses
Bacopa in dish still going strong
Cuttings in greenhouse, mostly Pelargoniums
Hyrdrangea petiolaris, bonsai and Acers
Amelanchier with Gaura, Aster, Petunia ‘Tidal Wave’ and Salvias; Cercis canadensis ‘Forest Flame’ top left
Autumn colours not as vibrant as usual (because of the drought perhaps?), but it’s lovely to see your photos from other parts of the country :)

Ditto ! Your photo's are lovely,Sheila, and still so much colour ! It's certainly a beautiful welcome Autumn, and like you,I've been potting Pelargoniums up this morning, but we had the most horrendous downpour after lunch..then sunshine, but chilly.. I also envy you having a beautiful Amelanchier too..if only I had the space ! x.

Thank you Sandra … we also have an Amelanchier ‘shrub’ in the front garden, quite small. I bet you could squeeze in one of those?! x

Your lovely garden Sheila, soft colours by your softly coloured brick snake path, all works so well. Those pops of bright pink of the Salvias, are great and like mine have really come into their own now. Smashing photos..x

Thanks very much Janey for your lovely comments. I’ve been amazed at how happy the Salvias have been throughout the drought 🙂. Hope you and your garden are also doing well. x

Your garden still looks colourful Sheila!
I love the salvias!
I have an Amelanchier but it coloured up last month and now is starting to lose its leaves.

So lovely to see all the autumn colour in your beautiful garden, Sheila! Don't worry about the photos - none of us on GoY are professional photographers (that I know of!) we are all shoot & click "professionals"! 😂

Your photographs always look good Sheila, I take lots as my eyes are not good especially in the sunshine, then I sort out the best ones on my laptop, thank goodness for digital....My Acers, Amelanchier and other shrubs have shed most of their leaves already, think the prolonged drought has caused that to happen earlier than usual, the apple tree is the opposite and still green , its an odd year for that that as the apples grew enormous and ripened earlier , you still have plenty of colour to admire.. Lovely blog and photo's.x

Many thanks Sue, you’re very kind. Yes some of our trees have shed leaves early - I just hope they’re still alive!

Afraid not Sheila! It is not exactly in a place where I can see it and is at the back of the shrub garden.
I wish I had planted it somewhere else now!

Well, I’ll just imagine it Rose … glad you have one anyway.

I think you take lovely pics, Sheila!! I'm loving the thread of pinks, mauves and lilacs through to the luminous white of the anemone Charlotte. The latter is so pretty.
You've a lovely mix of autumn colours at the moment, plus all your cuttings look ready to roll! Very healthy looking too.
I'd love the space to have an amelanchier!!! I'll just enjoy yours today. You've a really great mix and variety of plants.
