BANGER READY FOR THE BIG FREEZE

My daughter’s greyhound ‘Banger’ with his fur lined coat on ready for the winter.

He doesn’t mind his coat on at all as he knows he’s going out for walkies!!!

As greyhounds don’t have much fur, especially underneath, they need to wear a coat when temperatures plummet.

Very warm and cosy he looks too...

He's gorgeous, I know Banger needs his coat on, but here is an odd fact for you Sheilar....Dog hair is up to 8 times warmer than sheep wool......Pub quiz winning Q I think

4 Dec, 2011

Not many people know that --- I didn't anyway! TT will be spinning yard from Conker hair for more hats before long!

Thanks for your comments Terratoonie and Lincslass.
Pimp, that's an interesting fact! The only problem is, he's not got any fur on his underneath, he's more or less just baldy skin!!! in fact, he's so baldy, he has to be kept out of the sun in the summer in case he burns.

Molly is a bit thin on fur underneath too...she is like a little piglet. She has to have sun tan lotion in the summer..not this year of course...but those hounds do look very thin and I can imagine they would get very cold without their coats.

I love Greyhounds and Whippets,Sheilar..it's their soulful eyes ,and lovely temperament,I think..what a great name.
Hi,Banger ! :o))

Karensusan, yes he's like a piglet and also has to have suntan lotion on him in the summer.
Bloomer, he's a lovely lad, very placid. His racing name was Ryan (he's got a number tattooed in his ear) but my daughter changed his name. He has got soulful 'starving' eyes and manages to scrounge anything edible from me!!

Awww he needs a wee pair of boots! well weo pairs lol

4 Dec, 2011

Racing Ryan ? Lol.I don't blame your daughter for changing his name .:o)))

Aye, Pixie, he could do with two pairs of bootees!!! He's quite a character - he won't go upstairs at all. He'd always lived in kennels on one level and my daughter has a terraced cottage, again on one level. He stands at the bottom of our stairs as if he's wondering what's up there, but will not go up! Apparently when my daughter turns into the top of our street in her car, he starts howling and crying and jumping around - I think he knows he's in for a 'yummy' time with me!!!

He is gorgeous. Clearly a very spoiled doggy. Might need boots as Pixi suggests... Tyler was out in the snow last year when he fell and yelped, I thought he had broken his leg, however, he had stuck to the snow and I had to carry him inside, bless !!!!

Thanks for your comment Paul - the carpet is a nightmare, it looked so much darker in the shop. However, it's 'Scotchguarded' so it cleans up a treat!
Thanks too N3tyy, Pamg and Meadowland for your comments - it's never got above 2 degrees here today, absolutely freezing

Isn't he beautiful!
You can't get near a chair or sofa with my parents' whippets and upstairs in a blink of an eye!

Definitely needs matching boots Sheilar. What a lovely looking dog he is.I bet he's spoilt rotten.

Thanks Amy.
Lulu - he is gorgeous, he's going grey now round his face, I think it makes him look 'distinguished'. He doesn't get up on my settees but in his own home, he does!
Rose - he is spoilt - mostly by me!!

Conker looks realy cool in his coat I used have a whippet called Dusty , the greyhounds used to go crazy when they saw her and she would ignore them and walk past with not even a side glance at them , the guys that walked them everyday out side our house told my mum our whippet was posh totty lol.

She even wore her coat in the house as it was so cold some days in the winter she would poke it with her nose so we knew she wanted to put it on , she looked like a little medeval horse hers had a buit in hood as well .

Thanks for the photo brought back happy times
