That's a nice old building. It looks a relaxing place to go for a walk :o)

Love them all, but pic 4 is fantastic. The "moody sky" does it for me.

Wow Blue skies! Lovely castle too. Like the topiary. Looks a really beautiful and interesting place, very well kept.

Well if you are out that way then the castle is worth an hour out of your day, the owners ask for a £2 contribution in thier trust tin.

Personally I love the dog in pic 3

Can anyone tell me what the tall stems are in pic 6, they are left from last year, I remember them and they were quite appealling

Looks like hogweed to me Stevie .

love old places like this....

Yes, Hogweed, care with it, the sap burns when cut. Also illegal to grow too much of it, so I was told anyway. It is rather magnificent though!

Thankyou for sharing, thats exactly the sort of place we like to visit......

Me too, think we need to plan a GoY visit, what you think folks?!

1 Mar, 2011

Yes I think it would be fab for GoYers to meet up at allsorted places but guess it needs a bit of co-ordination and indeed a bit of sun

Hmm I fancy having a bit of hogweed but might be one for a corner of the veg patch

Don't eat it Stevie!!
Looking forward to some sun and warmth am very cold indeed in my garden today and yesterday!
Looking forward to some excellent GoY co-ordination in summer time!!

The tall stems could also have been Angelica which is a lot more friendly and also edible!!
I don't think we've been to Usk castle, must put it on our list-thanks for the pics

Or Fennel!! Also friendlier & edible!!

Hnmm thanks folks, That area was fenced off so I would assume that may indeed be for the Hogweed, but good to see someone taking the care to still grow it

Def Hogweed! I would have some....very statuesque!

Ok heres another teaser, if you look at the pic of the old wooden gate (pic5) what is that growing at the base?
Theres about three shoots of it coming out. My friend and I were disagreeing about it!
