Courette wars part deux, Broad bean and courgette pilaf

Blurry pic alert (due to dropping my old camer off the desk damn n blast it)****

This was a while back but I havent put it on as I was too depressed at the blurry shots but hey this recipe is way to good to keep it to myself. Cooked this for friends and my mum and then again myself.

Actually I quite like it as its tasty and makes good use of my own stuff.
You dont have to bother with all the spice and I just used what I have

recipe is here
http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/broadbeanandcourgett_91842

I just
soak the rice,
make the stock, an oxo cude is fine or a spoon of Bouillon,
fry an onion n some garlic in a pan,
add the rice and stock and beans
and also a bit of Cumin, Turmeric and a tad of cinnimon powder and mix in and leave
fry the courgettes

serve with some greek yog with some chopped parsley add lemmon and voila,

really nice. I’d give this one a good 8/10

A great way to use your courgettes and broad beans : )

Sounds very tasty to me. I may try it one day but I make something which we also call pilaf but it is made with cracked wheat and original Greek Cypriot yogurt. I cannot stand the one's you buy in a supermarket. We bought it once, it didn't taste truel Greek yogurt to us and went straight in the dustbin.

I just looked it up

A risotto is Italian and a Pilaff or Pilau is Turkish.
A Blurry Pilaf is one taken with a camera that has previously been dropped of the desk and
An extra Blurry Pilaf is one photographed after 10 pints where you dont care if the camera is working or not

29 Sep, 2011

and which one tastes best?

29 Sep, 2011

Maybe you could grow some hopps next Stevie!!

30 Sep, 2011

30 Sep, 2011

That's a good idea Sticki!

30 Sep, 2011

Then, when Stevie deigns to annoy us we can tell him to Hop off to his Hopps!!

30 Sep, 2011

a hop mosaic would be good!!!
hops look good when dried too

30 Sep, 2011

Luby, 'annoy us'??? :o
I was going to say, 'yep its more difficult now after i lost my leg in afganistan', (but it wouldnt be true)..

anyway i thought hops get very tall and need big supports so would need to be on the outside. i think you need a female self fertilixer or something? anyone?

1 Oct, 2011

mmm, yummy, no need to go over board on the stock, let the taste of the spices come through : )

1 Oct, 2011

definitely do this again ~ really yummy.

1 Oct, 2011

had to put orange pepper in instead of the broad beans and only had ground cumin ~ be better with whole cumin. also sprinkled a few cubes of feta cheese on top!

1 Oct, 2011

Yum. That reminds me...at Tetbury food festival (very small fest it was!) I bought some 'real' feta. It was soacking in olive oil when I bought my slice and it was really scrummy. never want to buy supermarket feta again!! Just thought I'd share that experience with you!!

1 Oct, 2011

ooooh sounds very nice lulu, feta, olive oil and olives ~ love it!!!
