Autumn Gold ~ Stickitoffee style

Autumn is golden in so many ways, so inspiring outside as well as inside, a glowing kitchen.

I thought the golden colours lent themselves to a few sweet treats from the kitchen:

First boil the sugar and honey until golden

Add the bicarbonate of soda and let the frothy gold set into cinder toffee [or honeycomb]

Add a few extra golden treats:

Dip gold bars into melted chocolate:

Sprinkle edible gold onto leaf shaped chocolate:

Make golden caramel fudge:

And there you are ~ a basket of golden autumn treats:

Thanks tralamander, not really hard work, although I did have to make the cinder toffee twice - it got too not the first time and tasted a bit burnt.

Hello Libet, nice to see you! I took my fudge to some people I know to help me eat it! It's all gone now!

8 Nov, 2011

Oh, Sticki, how absolutely fabulous, only now I just have to head for the kitchen to look for something gooey, only I know I won't find anything on a par with this...

8 Nov, 2011

sorry breda, its nearly all gone ~ although some of the cinder toffee is in the freezer!!

8 Nov, 2011

I want to try this with Xmas tree shapes, Sticki! Wonderful! Couldn't afford to replace my dental crowns with gold ones, though. :-))

10 Nov, 2011

nor can i david and it is a real threat!!!

i have had a few ideas for this since ~ lollipops made of chocolate with gold dust on top [not real] there is a recipe for lollies made of things like beetroot juice ~ heston blumenthal ~ i fancy making apple juice lollies with leaf shapes ~ think it would work well
also got some new cutters in snowflake shape ~ thought that might work with white chocolate for christmas??

please put the photo on of your xmas trees ~ would love to see them.

10 Nov, 2011

Edible gold dust is readily available from sites like Ebay and Amazon, Sticki. This may be just what you need. You'd have made a great Willy Wonka (taking me back to our choc-themed garden here). Saw your comment under a pic of mine saying that you are just up the road from Cadbury World, too, with its link to Roald Dahl..

Those juice lollies sound quite healthy, actually, a gr8 idea.

Well, guess I'll have to get practising with the edible Christmas trees now. :-))

10 Nov, 2011

I am simply writhing for a piece of that fudge... was thinking of driving to Worcestershire, but its no use if you've eaten it all.

10 Nov, 2011

your children will love helping you practise with those trees!!!
yes cadbury world is very near, and the gold dust and edible glitter is now available in most supermarkets, including the one i work in!! also they sell that fizzy space dust ~ very tempted to add that for an extra surprise!!

stickitoffee does willy wonka!!! now that would have been fun!! i loved the first film, liked the opening scene best with the river of chocolate; but i did like the outcome ~ films should have nice endings like that!!!!

10 Nov, 2011

oh, steragram if only i had known, i would have willingly sent you some.
send me your address in a pm and next time i make some i will try very hard to remember to send you some of it.

10 Nov, 2011

Oh such delights....

10 Nov, 2011

thanks DD, just a shame they are not very healthy delights!!

11 Nov, 2011

Still a little bit of what you fancy!!
