Golden Autumn

A little visit to Batsford Arboretum earlier this week was glowing in gold but I am sorry to say that as we didn’t get there until 3 o’clock, the light began to fade and several of these photos were taken using the flash.
Set in the ground of Batsford House, the arboretum is well established, huge old trees gracing the views. Although not a huge area the path twists and turns giving a new treat every few steps.
Batsford House glowing in Cotswold stone:
Leaves of fire:
Contrasted with the fresh green of the Tulip tree:
Stately grounds, house and of course, deer in the filtered light:
Glowing red:
Glowing like fire:
Standing within the tree, highlights its amazing colours:
Ancient huge tree trunks:
Late afternoon light on the leaves:
The Japanese bridge:
A shower of golden leaves:
Like a waterfall of red leaves:
Surprising how brightly a little plant can light up a dark area:
Looking like a coat of many colours:
Or the cloth of gold:
Even the resident cat seemed to match the autumnal colours:
The tree ~ truly a thing of beauty:
Like glowing stars:
As the light fell, this trunk stood out, all its bark had peeled away leaving a beautifully tactile statue-like tree.
The moon making silhouettes of the trees:
So I said goodbye to a glowing world of colour:
