Finished at last...

This has absolutely nothing to do with gardening, but I just had to blow my own trumpet a little (I’m sure you all won’t mind)
After my granddaughter, Freya passed her first Christmas last year, I was given a pattern for a cross-stitch height chart. As I have only ever done small patterns before this was quite a challenge…but those who know me know I’m a devil for a challenge.
So, twelve month later and apart from the odd week off, whilst on holiday, I’ve spent sometime of most days working on it. Hope you like the finished result and I’m so glad it’s finished at last!

Thank you Sticki, that's kind of you to say. It's actually going to hang on the wall in in her bedroom.

i think i might have that in the main hall where everyone could see it! but it will be equally lovely in her room ~ and she will love it! i can see her imagining and telling stories about all those animals!

I don't want her other Grandma to feel left out, so her bedroom is perhaps the best place for it. She can already point out the different animals and some of the noises they make.

I wonder if it will inspire her to make things one day? lets hope so! your grandaughter that is not the other grandma!

I'd like to think so :)

Its a gift to treasure for ever Waddy and you are right to blow your trumpet, I myself haven`t the patience for sewing of any kind but both my daughters have done lots of cross stitch over the years and I know how long one of that size would take to complete, a big pat on the back, its lovely...

That is truly a lovely gift to make, as Sticki says a family heirloom, a lot of work so no wonder your proud, I would be too.

Thank you, Lincslass. I had no idea when I started what Id let myself in for!

Stroller; Well if she likes it that's good enough for me.

Karen; I'm sure Freya will, even now she's very good with taking care of things.

Pamg; If I'd known what time and dedication it was going to take I'm not sure I would have started lol.

Love it!
I have enjoyed cross stitch in the past too, and can appreciate the time and dedication you have invested in producing it. Well done!
Nariz, you are not alone in having unfinished projects tucked away somewhere, I once started a cross stitched Sunbeam Alpine panel for my partner and another of his pyrennean mountain dog too. Now I am retired I should be able to finish them ......problem is recalling where I put them :-)

thats wonderful . well done.
I've also done big things like this but can I sound a couple of words of warning/advice.
1. dont hang it on a sunny wall as the colours will fade
2. if you put it in a frame use acid free backing paper as it will help preserve the fibres.

Wow! been very busy the last few days, so I was overwhelmed when I logged on to see all the lovely comments you have all put about my little creation. Thank you all sooooo much, you're all so kind.
I'm giving the needlework a bit of a rest for a while, but I've no doubt I'll be doing something else again soon :)
