Winter Project

I’m not one who can just sit around during the winter months, waiting for spring to arrive, I’ve got to be doing something. This was my project this winter.
I’ve long found this sideboard too dark for our small dining room and the cost of replacing it was out of the question, so I decided to paint it.
First I removed the drawers and took off all the locks, hinges and handles.
Then I sanded the whole thing down with fine sandpaper before wiping it all over with lint free cloth and turps.
After leaving it to thoroughly dry, I gave it two coats of undercoat I left it to dry overnight.
As I wanted a gloss finish rather than the distressed look, I gave it two coats of good quality non-drip gloss.
leaving it to dry completely between coats.
I’m rather pleased with the results and a lot less than paying for a new one.
Now I need another project to carry me through to spring…any ideas?

That looks really nice...nice and light.
You could always pop and help me lay a couple of bases for a shed and greenhouse if you getting itchy feet....lol.
The shed one is partly done but then I'll have to start on the greenhouse base. Not the best of jobs....digging clay soil at this time of year but the shed that we inherited when we moved in December has a hole in the floor and roof and is generally rotting(also in the wrong place for me) So, it had to be done asap as we have so much stuff in it getting wet!

It looks great white Waddy. You're a very thorough worker, I would have been too lazy to remove the hinges so my makeovers always look a bit tatty lol. Still, I like the shabby chic look at least that's my excuse. I bet you feel happy every time you look at it, a very professional job:-))

I know just what you mean, Waddy. I like to be doing something too - just started redecorating the kitchen while I wait for the garden to dry out a bit. You've done a good job there and well worth the effort. Brilliant :)
