Nerines Part 2

‘Blue Magic’ has a name that really fits. The darker colors on this are really magical.

‘Lost Dreams’ is another with strong stripes.

‘Mashona’ really sparkles:

‘Tai Missoni’ is my favorite. It is more of a purple that really takes on the purple shades as it ages. First, a photo when it is young, and then when I was experimenting with the camera, I captured an usual exposure when it was in its dotage.

I have been crossing these with my various Amaryllis belladonnas, and the seeds are starting to ripen on the early flowerers. So in a few years I should see xAmarines flowering, hopefully with the traits these Nerines have.

Amazing Wylie, sorry for my ignorance but I didn't even know they came in these colours, now I'm very envious, sigh, I only have the common pink...

Thanks! Fortunately, Nerines do very well here. The Exbury Gardens sell excess bulbs to help support themselves, so take a look at the complete catalogue at

These are only half of the bulbs I have, and I am looking forward to more opening next year. I thought I needed to put all these together so people could get an idea of what has been done in the UK with Nerines.
