Not so messy :)

Finally took some pics of the new raised bed, after the collapse of the trellis and the loss of some plants, we decided on a raised bed made out of decking…
Theres a black bamboo, phormium yellow wave, (looking a bit tatty after its spring hack :) Hosta big daddy, Yucka and a stagshorn fern planted…..
I have a Cycad, Colocasia, red Cordyline (small) to go in, and Nicotina (seedlings doing nicely) Oooooh trying to remember what other plants i have!!! red crocosmia,I need a splash of purple, im sure i have more, probably remember after i uploaded the blog..
I finally managed to buy 2 new pots for the Bay trees at the back door as one had broken and the paint had worn off them, I wanted the same pots so i could literally just swap them over, making the job easier, This year i will wrap them up as they obviously arent frostproof!..
A coat of paint is needed on the back door i think.
My Trachy made it through the winter, Well hard…must be a geordie hahaha..
Bought this on saturday, Yucka £20 and the pot £6. not bad eh..
This part of the garden is behind the new raised bed,it was hidden by the trellis, its what i call my my work area, there’s 2 compost bins and i pot plants up, store pots compost etc, hopefully the new plants will hide this area.. hubs building a frame to add a new bamboo fence around the bins, he had to dismantle one of them to get a post in, So this is now my Messy Area! :) ill keep you upto date with this area..
We even got the furniture out at the weekend, i can’t believe how much we have have done, and its only march!
It makes me feel ALIVE lol
Hapy gardening everyone..

I like it! You're dead right the late March sunshine gets all us gardeners as well as the plants coming out in the warmth it offers. I've ben putting my plants out from the house into the outside greenhouses, starting with the Colocasias, just need to keep an eye on the overnight temps in case they dip to low but otherwise the plants will be fine.
for your dash of purple might I suggest Xanthosoma violaceum - the hint to the colour is in the name.
I almost bought a lovely variegated yucca a bit bigger than yours for £30 at the weekend except the couple in front of me thought the same as I did and grabbed it :-(

Shame about the yucca you missed out on! I think i would of cried :)))
I googled the xanthosoma, "Blue Taro" Amazing Plant, I have a Colocasia to go in, i dont think there will be enough room for both but next year ill deffo give it a go.. thankyou..

Well, Ydd, well done on the raised beds from decking, they're looking so good! Is your Black Bamboo a non-invasive type? I love the Hosta name 'Big Daddy' and hope it lives up to it's name, love those freshly painted red pots too. Well done on getting the garden furniture out, your happiness shines through your blog! : o ))

Thanks Sticki, 6d and Shirley tulip, im not sure about the bamboo sticki, its been in a pot for 3 years, ive finally set it free, i dont mind it spreading just enough as a screen for my work area, but if it gets too invasive, its a gonna :)

You've really transformed your garden....I really like your raised wooden planters made from decking and your curved bench is very pretty too.
Lots of hard work gone on there...and it's lovely that you can sit out in your garden and enjoy your efforts.

Brilliant idea to use decking for a raised bed - love the shape! Great planting too . . . I'd like to show hubs "look what we could do" but can just hear the groan!
It all looks so good, YoungDaisy, terrifically satisfying to have made such progress . . . great red pots too. :))

Its starting to come together nicely Daisy, its amazing what a difference you can make in a short period of time! I don't know if you remember but last year you inspired me to grow yellow plants, it was the red and yellow Colius combo that did it, anyway this year I'm giving it a go lots of Cannas, Colius you get the idea.. but I noticed you wanted a purple splash, well not sure of the space your thinking about filling but last year I bought a Melianthus Major (Purple plume type flowers) quite an exotic statement plant which quite frankly I didn't think would survive the winter, but it has! Google it, I think you would like it.. Thanks for the inspiration X

Aww thanks everyone, I think its a dragonfly Mariek, I hung it higher up and it must of fell down, glad i wasn't under it, the pointy tail end is lethal lol.. Go on Sheila, show him, wait untill hes in a good mood tho :)))
WoW dido, I remember the red and yellow pots, im thrilled i inspired you, i get a lot if inspiration from other gardeners, its great to know i have done the same, Wow again.. Ive googled the melianthus, honeybush, crocus are selling them for £12 99, Im going to get me one, maybe for my Lshaped border, it looks gorgeous and if it survived last winter in your garden, thats a thumbs up for me.. Thankyou..Im Looking forward to seeing pics of your garden this year, I love cannas to, but i lost them all year before last, i grew a couple last year but they were small, fingers crossed they do better this year, im going for Coleus again, there just pure showoffs and look great with exotic looking plants, But, The snails love them! pellets at the ready..

Those planter pots are brilliant. I love them! Your raised bed looks awesome too! I bet it was a lot of work getting it filled with soil, as it looks pretty deep. Well worth it though; it looks great. It is very rewarding to get projects finished. Congrats on all the work you've accomplished already!
