Lovely to see you back, even if it is only for a brief moment to make up this delightful blog! I hadn't realised six weeks had passed so soon!

Your roses look fabulous indeed! I loved seeing them all! Dawn is such a lovely rose, I used to grow it in my parents' garden many years ago & have never forgotten it.

Hope your treatment goes very well & that you recover your health as soon as possible.

Hi Dd...Such beautiful roses....Hope your therapy goes well...take care x

5 Jun, 2017

What a wonderful collection of roses Dd and such a wide variety of colours. Your Brush Strokes is similar to my Oranges and Lemons but your Peony is stunning. Take care and thinking of you.

The garden looks wonderful, you have trained him well, or perhaps he is an avid gardener too?
The roses are very impressive, I am always so impressed myself by how everyone knows the names of the roses that they have planted! Mine lose the labels, the birds pull up the flowerbed ones or they rot away, leaving me without a clue what half the plants are.
The arch with the dovecote nearby looks stunning, how do you keep pigeons or Jackdaws from filling the dovecote to overflowing with sticks?

If I could like it more then once I would! Your roses and garden look wonderful and OH is doing a good job. My sister has just had her 2nd chemo treatment and as other people say you just have to think that everyone is one closer to you getting better. This disease sucks and you feel that you are not in control but it will get better. You are in all our thoughts. Look after yourself. Jen

Sending you my best wishes and may you soon be back to normal xx Denise.

Your roses are really lovely DD and your OH is a fantastic garden minder too. Wishing you all the best with your ongoing treatment. It has been wild out there for a couple of days and debris everywhere. Hope your garden can can stay neat as always, and boost your morale.

Thanks everyone for all your kind comments, I am so lucky to have so many lovely friends on GOY...... you're the best!!
The weather has played havoc mostly damage from the wind snapping roses etc, the poor lupins are no more!, still as my OH says.....it is what it is! will be glad when these gales abate, nothing more annoying at this time of the year.
I do hope you have escaped this unseasonal weather.....

7 Jun, 2017

Hello Dotty, shame about those high winds. We used to have a decorative wooden 'spinner' hanging from an arch ... I suspect it is now in a garden along the road!! Like you, Roses have snapped, some Sambucus stems were on the lawn and twigs off trees everywhere. :o(

7 Jun, 2017

Disappointing isn't it Shirley?

8 Jun, 2017

Sorry about your Lupins, we have been fairly lucky and I think our big wall around the front has saved us to much damage. One of my garden chairs did get blown over on top of my poppy so now a bit flat but glad that was only casualty.

8 Jun, 2017

As your OH said, "It is what it is"! .....

8 Jun, 2017

Your OH is making a splendid job of looking after you and the garden, sending positive thoughts for a strong recovery.

9 Jun, 2017

I'm glad the operation went well & you are feeling better. Hope it's all down hill from here.

9 Jun, 2017

Hope the therapy treatment works well for you DD. I hope you feel a lot better soon...I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Keep virtual gardening for now on GOY. OH looks as though he is doing a good job. Your roses look beautiful. Let's hope we get some decent sunshine soon. Chatsworth show took a bit of a bashing, by the sound of it. We would have loved to have gone but with the weather being as it was, we thought better of it. I hope they did well though. It looked lovely what they did show on the T/V.

10 Jun, 2017

Thanks to Lindak for you thoughts and prayers, much appreciated, good reasoning not going to Chatsworth!
Thank you Stroller, and Bathgate, and all who left comments on my blog..... just pottering in the garden, as and when! the head gardener has been heavily pruning our Crinodendron and the Liriodendron, look better already!

10 Jun, 2017

I've just spotted your blog, Angela, & how pleased I am to hear you are having a potter now & then. Take a notebook with you & you can jot down bits & bobs to instruct the head gardner with later (smile).

Your roses are gorgeous & such lovely colours, I'm battling with black spot this year due to neglect last year, even so my Nahema is giving out a delicious perfume.
Since that deluge & gales you wrote about we're having a heatwave - everywhere is dry as tinder & we really need some cooling rain. Never the right weather, is it!

20 Jun, 2017

Hello there......since the blog a lot of our roses have succumbed to disease ......so you are not alone!
The weather too has changed, in the middle of a heatwave here, far too hot for both of us, melting fast, and the garden is suffering, all or nothing, as usual.,..
My OH has really coped well with all the extra work! , many thanks for your kind comments..xx

20 Jun, 2017

Same thing happened over here Dotty. All my roses went to pot in no time. The leaves turned black and dropped off.

21 Jun, 2017

Bathgate it's disappointing isn't it? you wait all year, and along comes mother nature!! bless!!!!

21 Jun, 2017

Yes, it's bewildering for this time of year.

Keep up the good work Angela the garden has a very calming influence even if it is only giving instructions to your head gardener , We have a rose show this Saturday I'm not at all sure if there will be any good enough to show xx

21 Jun, 2017

Hi Amy hope all is well with you! I am managing some pruning etc, nothing too heavy!
I hope you can find some roses to enter, the weather is not being too kind at the moment...xx

21 Jun, 2017

With luck, Amy, the storms forecast won't reach us.

22 Jun, 2017

Very windy here and much cooler......odd weather!!
