happy birthday, Gee and a lovely blog

I've heard chain-sawing over the back of the bungalows, and thought about seeing what I might be able to pick up, but not found any big pieces yet, and I'd have to take my trolley with me to get them home on - only stacks I've found were well old, half-rotten, so not much point in salvaging them. Still, one lives in hopes.

Look forward to seeing your shrub in the ground.

oh, will they need treating to keep them from drying out or getting wet and rotting? or, lol, is there more where they came from?

Pleased you had a nice day Gee, your woods are looking a lot better without the mud trails, aren't you lucky finding those stepping stones, they look as though they were made for your garden.....

What a lovely blog some great photos showing what a good mothers day you had...and yes your freebies make great stepping stones. I notice your hosta are coming on well, mine seem to have disappeared completely which is rather sad as I love them.

I'm glad you enjoyed your Day Gill it's always a treat to go to a garden center especially with a few GC vouchers burning a hole in your pocket :o))

Thank you. Fran, I have just laid them down without any preserving treatment, they are about 3-5 inches thick so should last a while!

Holly, Kayleigh would love the woods especially now the mud is disappearing fast :)

I would like your see your photo of Polly, PP, so please put it on. I like your Polly area in your garden. I too have trees/plants in memory of my old friends :)

Stroller, sorry your hostas have disappeared, mine are all in pots because of the slugs! If you would like a couple of replacements please pm me your address. I am sure I can split some of mine.

Thanks, Grandmage and Amy, buying the geranium was a mistake - Josie tortoise has already eaten all the flowers on it!

Missed this blog till now Gee. Immersed in my doings and did not use the computer much for a while. Those lovely shaped woody slices are a real find Gee, but HEAVY! surprised they coppiced at bird nesting and bluebell time.

No wonder you are shattered Gee. Carrying your booty home must have been quite an undertaking even with help. The slabs look great in situ.
My mini hostas which are in a trough seemed to disappear and I thought I had lost them but I see two of them are still living. I dk what attacked them, probably slugs. Have you seen the new Hosta 'Andy Murray'.

Hi Dorjac, the coppicing was started before the nesting but I think it has probably disturbed the squirrels more. The bluebells have really appreciated the extra light and have never been so good. When I spoke to the woodsman he said the area would benefit from the work and I was very unsure but he was right! The stepping stones were heavy but are doing a good job :)

I hope your hostas are beginning to perk up, Scotsgran. One of mine is very slow to come up, just a tiny speck at the moment while the others are romping away. I hadn't heard of Hosta Andy Murray but have now checked it out - very attractive and being grown very near here, in an Ashford nursery! Suggested price is about £25 so I will have to wait until it is cheaper :)

You have time to save up Gee as it will not be going on sale until after it is first shown at Chelsea.
