Introducing some of my neighbours

These two little collared doves visit every day, morning and evening. They live opposite me (in the garden of the bungalow opposite). They often wake me in the morning by sitting on the rose arch and billing and cooing to each other, very romantic!

‘Do you realise this tray is empty? Please hurry up, we’re peckish’

I also have some new neighbours, rather late in the season so I don’t know how they will manage but fingers crossed…..

Two older siblings….

…..and ‘Dad’ splashing out!

These neighbours are quite shy and always in a hurry….

’Can’t stop, must rush – or all the good resting places will be taken….’

‘Ha, ha, too late, we’re here first’

The latest arrival…..

No colour but looks like a ladybid with long legs! I presume it’s not a spider as it only has 6 legs and it seemed to have trouble controlling them too. I’m sure someone will enlighten me – I just hope he doesn’t play loud music at night.

It's so lovely to watch the birds in the garden and a real treat to have the ducklings so near. We had some ducks nesting in our hedge last year, nowhere near water. We rehomed them when the 8 ducklings hatched as there were too many cats around. A lovely experience though.
Lovely pictures Gee, thanks for sharing them.

Lovely blog as usual Gee with some great pics ..yes very late for ducklings but numbers down here too this year think they ll just have time to develop strongly before the bad weather.

Collared doves breeding all over here nests all over the garden very romantic if a bit messy ..

Not sure what that spidery thing is unless from Mars and looking for Ziggy if so then forget the quite nights lol

Those doves are so sweet aren't they? We have apair & a single lonely one...maybe their offspring from last year?
He/she stays close by them but not actually with them so Iwe're hoping a new mate will be there next year.
The baby ducks ....omg! how cute are they??!!!

The spidy? I think we have one similar on the glads...must check out how many legs are going on there!

Great blog Gee. Wonderful pics of your neighbours, it must be wonderful to have them all around you. I think that your spider is a Round Harvestman. They are not true spiders but are closely related. Normally they have eight legs and I think that this one has probably had a close shave with something and has lost two of them.

Let's hope he doesn't drink anymore else he'll be totally legless!!

Great blog and pics Gee. Wildlife just brings a garden to life and you seem to have some great neighbours around you:0)

Its a harvest er all right Toto, and they live on amongst other things spiders and they are very good at catching them too we often get siders in our bathroom at this time of year(little ones that stay up on the ceiling and before too long we get a harvester or two come in and stalk them, fascinating to watch them do it!
Nice pics and a great little blog Gee !

A lovely blog Gee .. we are being squeezed out by Doves at the moment , we have had several nests in the garden , some of the nests have had 3 lots of eggs in them , the youngsters are all coming with their parents to be fed , there was a large gang of them waiting this morning , what I would like to know is , will the young go off to find a place of there own or will they multiply at an alarming rate in our garden because if they do we will need sacks of feed for them ..!
The little ducklings are very sweet :o)

My pair of doves bred earlier in the year and the young came for a while but I only see the original two now (I think that's who I see anyway!).

Lovely blog, love the pics of the ducklings, so gorgeous. I have a pair of doves who visit the bird table regularly in the winter - it's got a roof, and is pretty small, but they've worked out how to get in there at the same time.

Lovely blog Gee and great photo`s, we have a pair of doves come every day have done for a few years and they are quite tame now,my little robin is back as well, the big fat pigeons have gone so the food is lasting a bit longer, lol, no ducks here though which is probably a good thing because I`d be on guard all day protecting them from our cats. 2 huge spiders in the bath last night, they had to go !!!!! I DONT like.

one huge spider last night, eeugh, but the robin's back on the balcony this morning - have started putting seed out already, since I noticed the blue tits queuing up on the railings outside the window to get at the nut feeder...

A robin has appeared in my garden too, Bamboo, but he's a bit flighty! Your balcony sounds a busy place.

Great blog, and smashing pics.

It is busy - funniest thing is, I can tell when the nights cool off - I have windows that push out from the bottom, and the blue tits sit inside the window in my bedroom (which is always open), on the wooden ledge, but under the glass (if you get my drift) at daybreak, for an hour or so on and off. Sunday I was woken at 6 am with one of them relentlessly bashing a seed against the windowsill, inside the window... And my doves are back, this weekend.
