I’ve been I visiting my mother in Bradford West Yorkshire,Uk for the past couple of days and we visited Lister park which is only about a mile from the City centre.
I lived in Bradford for 14 years in my youth and passed by almost every day living at one point only 200 metres from the park but never visited!. Hey ho we tend not to go to places like this in our youth unless parents drag us along!.
The park has an art gallery in a large Victorian building which is called Cartwright Hall. See photos. The hall and park have free admission.
I loved the stream area which had fabulous planting ( shown towards the end of this blog )and and “Indian” style garden which I’ll show in the next blog I do.
The weather was superb as you can see by the photos and mum and I had a very happy 3 hours in the park and gallery.Mum is on a few of the photos.

Anchorman - do you find visiting such a wonderful place inspirational for your work as a landscaper?

Kfunster. I certainly do! I have a 20 metre sloping lawn leading down to my own garden pond and I'm seriouisly considering building a stream to it. Unfortunately it won't have natural running water but a pump will produce something quite similar.
I have designed and built a pond with a 20 foot stream leading to it in the past but unfortunately I have no photos of it. I've learned alot more about plants since then and my aim would be to try to make it look as natural as possible. Whoever designed the planting by the stream in the park was in my opinion inspied. It was simply enchanting and only one or two of my photos come anywhere near to doing it justice.

When you lived near the park in your youth, I bet not even for one minute you though you would visit it and look at it through the eyes of a landscaper - its funny how our lives take a certain paths.

How I love to visit gardens, Lister is just the place for me to spend an afternoon too. The gardeners there certainly work very hard to keep the place in such an excellent condition...just beautiful. :o)

The grounds are very well kept and so colourful too. I really like the little creek/river and the bridge over...the waterfall looks so right in its position. I can imagine you spending 3 hours there; what a nice outing for you both.
