Some of you know that we went to Bournemouth, for a few days, with our friends,Carole(Pansypotter) and Harry, last week..the weather was very good,so on our free day,we decided to get the trusty bus passes in use,and visit this pretty town..
This is the longest church or Priory,in the land,at 311 feet,4 inches..and was recorded in approx AD 700,known then as “Twynham”.,which was then dropped in later years, and only refers to parts of the town now.

In 1415,the central tower collapsed, and was reconstructed in 1510,in a perpendicular style.
In 1539,Henry V111,ordered it’s destruction, but after local petitions,he acceded and gave it to Churchwardens and the town, but other buildings were destroyed, with only the wall’s still remaining in the grounds..
We weren’t allowed to take photo’s inside, unless we paid, which was a shame,as the Norman carvings, and Romanesque arches are stunning..well worth a visit,if you are in the area..

A lovely display in the well tended grassed Graveyards..

A walk around the grounds, following the waterway..
This is Race mill..dating back to the 1200’s,and formerly a flour and clothing mill.Closed in 1908,but reopen in the summer months,to promote local artists and crafts

Back into the town, and reading the sign,we decided not to try this pub ! Lol..so went for a nice coffee instead, before catching the bus into Bournemouth, for the afternoon, and lunch : which will be another blog soon..

Hope you enjoyed the walk with us..:o)

It has so much character Bloomer and the flowers in the graveyard look so pretty. I always like water mills as there is peace around them somehow. What a really lovely day out.

I was strolling along the beach in Portsmouth with Boo (break from toxic waste conference) and met a fisherman. I asked politely, feigning interest, if he had caught anything ..... "yes ... crabs" came his sarcastic reply, Boo fell about laughing. I, of course retained my dignity:-))

Lol,Ba,I would have done the same as Boo..and then pushed him in the sea..or kicked his bucket over :o) rude man...we didn't meet anyone like that, just the opposite, and lots of them :o)

I must say that you and Carole pick some lovely places to visit, the old church looks very interesting and the old mill with its huge weeping willow is the kind of place that just looks so tranquil its no wonder you all had a good time.

Thank you Stroller..we chose this tour because of the places we could visit, especially on our trip free day..and with it being nice weather, all the more enjoyable..in the afternoon,we caught the bus through to Bournemouth..the sun wasn't shining there, and it was decidedly chilly..especially on the pier!!..we were both only wearing cardigans,so I had to don my lightweight cagoule,to keep the wind out! Still didn't spoil a lovely day out :o)

Never visited Bloomer so its a pleasure to see through your eyes, as you know I always enjoy visiting such places and a bit of the history included is always a treat as well.

Rain has stopped play here so taking a tour with all of you is a pleasure...

Thank you Sue..I'm glad you enjoyed it..I love seeing places through others perspective too, especially the history part of them..it's always been a favourite subject of mine....it's been fine and sunny here, but very windy..we desperately need some of your rain..everything is bone dry...water butts half empty already !
