Country Market

Just a few photos taken at our village Country Market today. Unfortunately not a very busy day as I think a lot of people were taking advantage of the lovely weather and doing things they haven’t been able to do because of the bad weather. Even some of our producers were on holiday, but a very pleasant morning was had by all that attended. Of course I was selling plants, though not all mine.

Some of the ladies preparing their tables

Everything displayed very prettily. Jam jars and plants look very enticing ! :o)

Yes its great, we have it once a month, and usually all the tables are groaning with the weight, especially on the jams and pickles table, but this week we only had two ladies bringing those things, and the cakes and pies ladies usually have double what they had today, everyone must be on holiday I think, we also have a local butcher who brings the most beautiful pork sausages and meat.

that looks really nice there Cinders, very nice.

ooooooh those sausages sound very good

I tell you Sticki, they are the best I have tasted. Pure pork, home grown.

ooooooooooh stop it cinderella, im feeling very hungry suddenly.

when you go to the food shows there is often a sausage seller and they cook a few for you to try, just love em!!

21 Jul, 2012

'home grown' sausages, like 'free range' sausages always gives me a very funny picture in my head ~ little sausages running round freely !!!

21 Jul, 2012

Oh dear Sticki, I knew if I talked 'food' you would get carried away !

21 Jul, 2012

lovely - I also like the look of the jams

Thoroughly recommend them too Paul. Some of the chutneys and pickles are good, and the Horseradish Mustard.

21 Jul, 2012

Sham the turn out wasn't as good,Cinders..and with it being the start of the school holidays,
lots will have gone away..hope you did ok with your streps and plants ..your display looks good :o)

Sandra I sold 4 streps, and several other plants, so didnt do too badly. We have a stall next Saturday at the Flower Show, so may do better there. you are probably right about the holidays too.

Wildrose the pink and white Strep did sell, its called Pink Leyla.

Lucky person who took it home! Your plants are so lovely, you deserve to sell lots!

21 Jul, 2012

Thank you.

All those lovely plants, I would not have been able to resist, the jams and pickles look good as well...

21 Jul, 2012

I think people are not buying so many plants after the bad weather and the financial situation too. The jams are usually packed on that table, and different marmalades as well. Thanks Lincs

Is it a general village sale or is it the WI? The WI have a stall in St Davids and their cakes and pies etc are gorgeous. Its disappointing when not many people turn up but I'm glad you sold some of your plants anyway.

21 Jul, 2012

Nice to see a community spirit. Pitty there wasn't more of it these days.
I wish I could have come along ... to buy some plants lol

Its not the WI Stera, but it is affiliated to the National Country Markets scheme and we all have to become members to sell there once a month. Its just for two hours, and we usually have them queuing at the door. The ladies that do the baking have to qualify, they go through a test to be able to do it, and their food is where everyone makes a beeline to.

Hywel I wish you could have come too.

22 Jul, 2012

Great! I see some of the plants are in 'posh' pots too!

22 Jul, 2012

They are Karen, there are two of us that sell plants, but she does it on a much larger scale than me, so those are hers.

22 Jul, 2012

Sounds great Cinders.

Now you see, this sort of thing is exactly what I miss about not living in Britain any more. What a splendid display of everything, and I bet they were all top quality and bargain prices, too. I'd have been bankrupted and weighed down after half an hour there!

24 Jul, 2012

Gattina that is my trouble. I always spend more money than I make !! Definitely top quality and all home made. Can't go wrong.

24 Jul, 2012

What a great selection of plants and blue pots too! I would have had a field day there, Cinders.

27 Jul, 2012

Yes its very good, and we have another one tomorrow as its the village Flower Show, and we have a market stall at that. Hope it won't be too hot.
