If you have your umbrellas handy, come for a walk around my garden …
in the RAIN !
Wet Fuchsia – ‘Lena’ :-
Wet tubs on my shed wall :-
Wet Roses …
Wet Phlox :-
Wet Cotinus leaves :-
Wet pots :-
Wet Spiraea :-
Wet Hypericum :-
Wet Clematis :-
Viburnum bodnantense :-
I thought it only flowered in the winter,
but the weather is more like winter than summer this year.
Wet overgrown views,
because it’s too wet for me to get on with cutting things back :( :-
And you can see bags of leaves etc, that I haven’t been able to take to the tip, because they are too wet to put in the car !
I hope you didn’t get too wet ! lol

Beautiful garden, the wet is helping it grow! I wish we had more rain, so I didn't have to water the garden :)

Lovely photos the rain drops give some nice effects on the leaves

Your garden is full of lots of wonderful colours Hywel... Don't worry about all the rain - It would be welcome here in East Kent... ;o)

Lovely photos Hywel , I to could do with some of your rain everything's whilting here!

We've had a very dry year here until recently, but I do appreciate that excessive rain is rather depressing. Your plants look very well on it, though!

Lovely wet wander Hywel, the rain drops look lovely on the Cotinus leaves, the plants will love the watering, annoying though when you can't get out to get the jobs done, don't worry everything looks gorgeous and the sun will shine again soon.....surely! :o)

Admit it Hywel, you enjoyed it out there in the rain! Each plant looks happy with the raindrops and it was well worth taking these photos.
A lot of rain coming our way tomorrow I think. The ground is rock hard so it can only do good.

Lovely Hywel, and could you please send a bit my way as I spend a lot of hours watering each day somewhere or another. (GWR not far from here and I'd collect from station.)

I think we should send all this rain south to the poor gardeners who are getting none. We are kind that way! We average one nice day a week here. The plants are fed up too.......flowering is difficult with not much sun. We are expecting thunder and lightning today for a change.

Oh My! I'd appreciate a drop of rain as well please but only at night, lol.
Lovely photo's Hywel...

Was there a wet Hywel as well after all that damp photograph?
Some photographers carry a spray bottle to get those effects, but Mother Nature is doing it for you! You seem to be having even more rain than we are, but today was very nice - hope it was for you as well.

so many raindrops. I hope you kept dry at least. Nice garden.

Yes please some proper rain here too though only during the night if you don't mind! Nevertheless, Hywel, you will live in Wales and you know how much it rains there.
Yet your plants are enjoying it and thriving. Whereas mine......

What an original blog, Hywel! :-)) It was quite an unusual view of the plants in your garden! This is a blog I could never do! Apart from the absence of a garden the plants on our balcony, except those on the railings, are generally protected from the rain.
We could use a drop of rain here ourselves in East Anglia. It may well arrive in a couple of days as well - this morning the BBC Weather app on my mobile phone carried a yellow warning for rain in Cambridgeshire! It seems we are liable to some heavy rain & perhaps thunderstorms on Thursday & possibly Friday as well. So I don't think I need ask you to send some of your rain our way after all.

They may be wet but they are still lovely, Hywel, the blooms don't seem to be spoilt by the rain at all.
I'm a bit further down the A14 from you, Balcony, forecast says Fri & Sat for much needed rain.

Don't want it on Saturday Hywel, we are going to a concert up Rutland Water, I would like some tonight as I've been on a spending spree up the nursery and have new plants, I've just been admiring your clematis again and kicking myself because I didn't buy one of them as well.

If you plant your new acquisitions tomorrow they will get a good watering in Thursday night or on Friday! LOL!

After the hottest day of the year & in the history of weather records, we also had record thunderstorms, though they didn't dump much rain here, however an inch would be very welcome here! The soil on the allotments is very dry just when we need some water in the soil to help with the bulking up of our veg!

We've just had two nice days in a row !!! Whatever next ?
I haven't been able to do anything in the garden this summer (if 'summer' is what you can call it ...) I could count on the fingers of one hand the number of dry days we've had since May :(
Yes Arbuthnot, I will live in Wales. I am Welsh and would not live anywhere else.
And it doesn't rain as much as you think ... this has been an exceptionally wet year.

I'd loved to live in Wales too, Hywel, but it rains a lot and I get SAD. Sad person that I am. The nearest I got was 20 years in Herefordshire just 8 miles from the Powys border. We moved nearer our son and because the two thirds of an acre garden had got bigger and bigger in that 20 years - or at least it felt like it!

It's just too dry in England :)

Ah but when it isn't raining the sky is clear blue and wonderful. I don't think that most of the time it rains a great deal more than it did when I lived in Yorkshire or Staffordshire, but certainly its wetter than Eastern England where watering is such a chore! In Staffordshire the sky was often grey even on fine days. I don't think you would be sad here Arbuthnot.

I think you may have moved from my old home-area, Hywel, but I see the rain has followed you. My father used to say we all had duck-feet as it poured so much. Actually liked going out in the rain as did the dogs though it was a chore drying them off before they were allowed indoors.
We have had little rain here in Dorset. A bit of a drizzle doesn't get very far in a garden and the hanging baskets always need watering.
The stretch hoses have been a godsend!

I live quite near your home village Eirlys :) It rains a lot as you know, but not all the time. Anyway, I enjoy the rain. Like I said, England is too dry :)
15 Aug, 2015
lovely to see your garden Hywel...I love plants with the rain drops on them which is just as well living here..
14 Sep, 2015
I mentioned above about the Met Office issuing Yellow Alerts for rain in Cambridgeshire - well they have gone & done it again today! Though if it's anything like the last time it will be more of a "damp squib" than anything else! our area saw very little rain then & I hope it will be the same again here tomorrow!
15 Sep, 2015
Gosh, Balcony, you're not far from me yet we seem to have had more rain than damp squids most of August & this month too like again today when forecast said fine & bright for next 3 days but cold at night.

I enjoyed looking round Hywel, something for everyone to look at. Your mauve Phlox is beautiful. My garden would really welcome some rain, so could you direct it my way when you've finished with it please?
